I've not read this yet (frankly I'm a bit scared to!) but I've heard very good things.

Former Game of Thrones and Skins star Hannah Murray tells tales of bipolar, being sectioned, psychosis and much, much more. I'm sure many of us can relate!

Link to buy from Waterstones is below (we are not affiliated with Hannah, Penguin or Waterstones in any way).

Some of our staff and trustees met together in person recently, and we took the opportunity to update our team photo!

As a national charity, we often work remotely and across different parts of Scotland, so spending time together in person is always really valuable. It gives us the chance to connect, reflect, share ideas and keep focused on what matters the most - making things better for people living with bipolar in Scotland.

Over the coming weeks, you might spot some new faces (and updated photos!) across our website and social media.

Not meaning to spoil your enjoyment of the sunshine, but just a gentle reminder that heat and sunlight can increase health risks for some people using medication for their mental health.

Medications that affect how the brain works (known as psychotropic medications including antidepressants and antipsychotics) can impair the body’s ability to regulate temperature, making it harder for it to respond appropriately to heat stress. Both antipsychotics and antidepressants can cause people's skin to be more sensitive to sunlight and can lead to skin reactions

So, lets all be cool cats and follow these simple steps to stay safe this summer:

- Use high factor sunscreen and stay out of direct sunlight.

- Keep as cool as possible and make sure you drink plenty of water.

- Follow standard heatwave advice, such as keeping curtains and windows closed, wear loose light clothing made of natural materials, such as cotton and linen, and wear a hat when outside.

- Avoid strenuous physical activity and alcohol, and take cool baths or showers to bring your temperature down.

Those struggling with the side effects should not come off their medication without consulting their doctor or specialist

Let's all stay safe out there!
