Working from the old coastguard lookout at Stepper Point, Padstow, NCI volunteers keep watch. We seek to support all users of the sea and coast who might be in trouble - walkers, kayakers, sailors, fishing boats. We also watch for debris in the water that might cause harm to those on the water. Accidents can happen to anyone. Our service is completely voluntary. We need your donations to help us p
ay for training and day-to-day expenses and equipment. We are always looking for volunteer Watchkeepers! Full training is provided. Training includes radio, chart work, spotting with binoculars and scope, and emergency procedures. NCI Padstow (formerly NCI Stepper Point) has Declared Facility Status, which means we are recognised as part of the official UK Search and Rescue system. Our volunteer watchkeepers maintain radio, radar and visual watches during daylight hours, all year round. If an incident is observed, we report to HM Coastguard and coordinate with the rescue services. The station is also on standby to be manned outside normal hours when there is an emergency in the vicinity. Visitors are welcome but may be asked to leave if we are dealing with an incident or are exceptionally busy. Boat users are invited to contact us on CH65 , call sign Padstow NCI, for a radio check or to get a report on local conditions. Text NCI to 70450 to donate £5
