At my councillor surgery earlier this month I had a visit from a resident who was experiencing some issues with their brown garden waste bin sticker. I thought that the response I received from the officers might be useful to other residents who were having similar issues.

Dear Cllr Redfern,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the garden waste permits. We can confirm if a resident has by mistake placed the permit on the wrong bin, then if this cannot be removed then they need to ring Streetscene on 0151 606 2004. Streetscene will make a referral down to the department for a replacement. Or the resident can email [email protected] with their address details and their garden waste subscription details.

I Hope the above has given advise requesting a replacement permit.

New apartments to be built in Devonshire Place

Week two of the food waste collection for those parts of Oxton who started in the first phase last Thursday.
Two questions where raised with us
1. Can the caddy be left on top of the larger wheelie bin?
2. Can the collection crews return the emptied caddy with the lid closed?

I raised the questions with management and have this reply;

“Its preferable if the food caddies are placed beside and not obstructing and other bins. In isolation, moving a caddy to manoeuvre a wheelie bin appears minor, however, multiplied by 150,000 properties and it’s a lot of avoidable manual handling (and lost time) for the collection crews.

There are two schools of thought on leaving the caddy lid open or closing it. Leaving it open allows it to be aired - reducing odour, whilst closing it prevents rain etc entering.
The crews will endeavour to return the caddies with the lids closed.”
