Hurst Green Singers

Hurst Green Singers Hurst Green Singers is a friendly group of amateur singers. We aim to rehearse with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and perform to the best of our ability.

Hurst Green Singers rehearse in St John's Church, Hurst Green every Tuesday at 8pm in term time from September until May. We perform two concerts a year - one at Christmas and one in the Spring. New members are always welcome!

Arrived a little early for an appointment, so I had a while to practise the stunning Mozart Requiem and Haydn "Insanae et Vanae Curae" in the comfort of my car!

Please come along on Saturday to appreciate the WHOLE CHOIR's hard work on these beautiful choral works, accompanied by amazing soloists and a talented orchestra.

It will be a musical delight! We look forward to welcoming you to our concert.

Four more sleeps 💤

With exams out of the way and a brief respite this week (from academic studies) I returned to my choir music for a run-through before the big day.

Sublime Mozart Requiem and beautiful " Insanae et vanae curae" by Haydn.

Haven't done a GrooveOnTheMove for a while, mainly because Hamish had a close encounter with something sharp and had to have surgery, followed by wearing the Cone of Shame for a couple of weeks. Stitches out, so it's back to off-lead spaniel madness. While he was racing around, I was listening to one of the most, if not *the* most, beautiful pieces of choral music -Mozart's exquisite Requiem.

Come and hear the Hurst Green Singers perform this on Saturday 16th May at the Bawtree Hall, Hazelwood School. Tickets from our website www.hurstgreensingers.co.uk.

On my way to that there London place for lunch and having a bit of a Groove on the Move. If you can read the pencil notes on the page, one of them says 'think of Hamish waiting for a ball to be thrown' and the other has a sad face, as that's the point at which Mozart died, with the Requiem unfinished 🙁

24 hours before your Hurst Green Singers concert is not the best time to develop cold symptoms! Pharmacy raided and stuffing myself full of drugs (legal ones!). I definitely want to be singing these magnificent pieces of music tomorrow, even if I end up reclining on the sofa like a consumptive heroine on Sunday 😀

Do come along and enjoy our Christmas concert. We've worked so hard to give you the best Glorias we can! 🎶🎻🎹 Hamish certainly digs our music and is 'rooting' for us 😂

Groove on the Moove - Concert Countdown Edition!!

With just THREE DAYS until the Hurst Green Singers Concert at Hazelwood School on Saturday 6th December **see poster for details!** I have been taking every opportunity to listen to the GLORIAS we will be performing.

1. Around 08:15, on the Thameslink to Farringdon - headphones on - Spotify enabled!
2. At 09:20, early for my first lecture of the day- a few minutes to rehearse the music quietly before my day begins.
3. The relative calm of Northampton Square in the late afternoon, enjoying a blast of cold fresh air, a hot chocolate and a musical interlude.

Come along on Saturday for a GLORIA-ous Comcert.

I've been hard at work today - with a brief respite to SING to the lovely folk at Windmill Manor Care Home in Hurst Green. I'm always amazed by the power of music to uplift and transport us to another dimension- so although I've temporarily paused the laptop to practise my choir music, it feels as if I've been taken to a new place of calm!

COME ALONG on Saturday 6th - next Saturday!! - to hear all our hard work and enjoy the delights of two very different Glorias.
