💼 ADMIN ASSISTANT

The Woodhouse Centre CIO incorporating Oxted Men in Sheds is looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Admin Assistant to join our team.

📍 Location: The Woodhouse Centre, Hoskins Road, Oxted, RH8 9HT
⏰ Hours: 4–5 hours per week, flexible - on site in person
💷 Pay: £14.00 per hour
📋 Contract: Permanent, part-time
🌴 Holiday: 4 weeks pro rata paid holiday
🏡 Work: On site, in person
Closing date 7th September 2026

What will you be doing?

You’ll provide general administrative support to help keep the Centre running smoothly. Duties will include:

• General office administration
• Answering emails and telephone enquiries
• Helping with bookings and room hire
• Keeping records and paperwork organised
• Basic computer and data-entry tasks
• Assisting with invoices and payments
• Supporting Centre events and activities
• Helping with social media and communications
• Welcoming visitors and helping members
• Working alongside our volunteers and community groups
• Other general admin tasks as required

We’re looking for someone who is:

✨ Friendly and approachable
✨ Organised and reliable
✨ Confident using computers and email
✨ A good communicator
✨ Able to work independently
✨ Practical, flexible and willing to get stuck in
✨ Comfortable dealing with a wide range of people
✨ Passionate about supporting the local community

Previous administration experience would be helpful, but we’re more interested in finding the right person with the right attitude.

💚 This is a lovely opportunity to become part of a friendly community organisation and make a real difference to the people who use The Woodhouse Centre.

🧵 FOLLOW-ON SEWING COURSE

3 consecutive Thursday evenings

💷 £75 for the 3-week course

This course is perfect for anyone who has completed our Beginners Sewing Course or already has reasonable sewing machine skills.

👜 MAKE A TAPESTRY BAG

2 consecutive Saturdays
📅 Saturday 10th & Saturday 17th October
⏰ 10am – 3pm
💷 £100 for the 2-day course

Create your own beautiful tapestry bag with Diane! Some reasonable sewing machine skills are required.

Thank you to everyone who helped, attended, entertained and sponsored our lovely Afternoon Tea Fundraiser on Saturday at The Woodhouse Centre. It was a wonderful event, we raised a lot of money and we all had fun.

Thank you to our lovely raffle prize sponsors: Cucinas, Ali's Vintage Hire, The Wright Choice Flowers, Limpsfield Tennis Club, Chartwell National Trust, Toni and Guy (East Grinstead), The Bey Tree and to Oxted Musical Theatre Company for the wonderful entertainment. Thanks also to Waitrose and Morrisons for providing some of the baking ingredients used by our amazing volunteers to create a fabulous Tea!

🐑💕 Gary & Gloria Update! 💕🐑

We know many of you have been wondering where Gary and Gloria have been!

The truth is, as they’re still in the early stages of their relationship, they’ve preferred to keep things a little private and away from the spotlight. ❤️

They were happy to share this photo of them watching the England game together this week. ⚽🏴 It seems football is something they both enjoy!

The happy couple will also be ‘helping’ at our stall at Limpsfield Village Fete tomorrow from 12pm on the Glebe Field, Limpsfield. They’d love to see you all and say hello.

As always, Gary will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings, while Gloria will be making sure he’s behaving himself! 😄🐑

At The Woodhouse Craft Centre, we love a challenge! As always, we’re passionate about repairing and restoring much-loved items, and if we can help keep something out of landfill, that’s a win-win in our book.
A couple of weeks ago, Claire popped in with a broken picture frame that had seen better days. This time, it was my turn to take on the restoration project. It was lovely to step away from running the centre for a while and get creative with a hands-on challenge.

Claire came in at lunchtime today to collect her frame, and when Sarah showed her the finished result, she was absolutely delighted. There’s nothing more rewarding than bringing a treasured item back to life and seeing the smile it puts on someone’s face.

So… Gary was feeling a little lonely. 🐹💔

After one too many evenings spent nibbling hay and watching couples share cucumber slices, he decided it was time to be brave… and join a guinea pig dating app. 📱✨

At first there were a few questionable profiles (one pig only posted photos with carrots 🚩🥕), but then… Gloria appeared. 🎀

A fellow hay enthusiast. Lover of cosy hideys. Excellent ribbon accessoriser.
