Unfortunately, Didcot Library has let us know that they are closing their upstairs during the heat wave, so our Didcot session will not be running there are usual.

However, we have put on lots more 1:1 video call slots across Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so if you would like some support from the hopefully cool comfort of your home this week, you can book one here: https://oxbreastfeedingsupport.org/services/onetoone/

We've updated our booking pages on Calendly, but wanted to make sure no one turns up too early or too late for breastfeeding support at our Thursday sessions!

After 18 incredible years, we're saying farewell to our wonderful facilitator Lisa Mansour!

Lisa has been part of the organisation that would become OBS since 2008, when she drove the big yellow Baby Cafe bus around Oxford, bringing breastfeeding support to the community. Lisa has worn many hats in Baby Cafe and OBS, leading sessions at Rosehill, Barton, Marston, Ambrosden, and the Roundabout Centre, before her current sessions in Littlemore/The Leys and Didcot. From 2012-2018, she was the Project Lead, before stepping back to have her own baby. Latterly, as EDI Lead, she passionately upheld OBS' commitment to being an accessible, equitable organisation, both in our policies and in our work and partnerships on the ground.

Lisa has been an incredibly caring and supportive colleague to everyone in the OBS family and has supported many of our volunteers to develop their own skills as breastfeeding supporters. We wish her all the very best for the future and hope that she will stay in touch! She has supported thousands of families across Oxfordshire, and we know that so many of you will be as sorry to see her go as we are!

Although OBS doesn't align itself to a political party, we are proud to be involved in Marie Tidball’s campaign for better maternity care for deaf and disabled parents.

We are passionate about supporting disabled families in Oxfordshire. We’d love to hear from you if you have any experience of how disability has impacted your maternity care, particularly around feeding your baby. With your permission we will share your experiences with Marie Tidball, MP for Pen*stone and Stocksbridge, to help inform her campaign for improved care for deaf and disabled women.

A reminder that we are operating a reduced service during the school holidays. Next week, our Barton session and our Facebook group will be paused. It may also take longer than usual to get back to you by email.

We will be back to normal service from Monday, April 13th.

If you need feeding support during these closures and cannot attend one of our other sessions, please contact your midwifery or health visiting team, or see bit.ly/OBSresources, which lists other sources of feeding support.
