🪕 ROOTS RAMBLE 2025 – LET’S GET READY TO STITCH ‘N’ STUMBLE 👢🧶 Saturday 9 August · Kickoff at 5:30 PM ·
Alright, Knitwits! Grab your needles and hooks, grab your boots, and grab your buddies (Knitwits or not) because we’re taking over East Oxford again for a homespun hoedown.
The Roots Ramble is back and this year, we’re turning it into a full-blown community arts crawl -- not just celebrating live music in pubs, but handmade joy, too. Think of it as a travelling folk gig with bonus yarn.
🎶 Expect: acoustic Americana, bluegrass, roots, and booze-fuelled sing- and dance-alongs. PLUS a special headline gig at the final venue. 🧶 We’ll be helping by slinging handmade wristbands for the event and yarn-bombing the crawl route. The wristbands will go for a suggested £10 donation, with proceeds helping to keep the Rmable rollin' (musicians' gotta drink too), and whatever's left will be donated to on behalf of Oxford Drunken Knitwits.
🎯 Knitwits—we need YOU! To:
- Make wristbands, beer cosies, and yarn bomb-ables
- Come along with your friends and join along the route
So help us prove that pubs are made for all kinds of making (and not just making bad decisions). Let’s remind Oxford that live music and live knitting both belong in the pub!
If you’re not already a member, join us at www.drunkenknitwits.com to RSVP and get involved. We don’t bite -- we just stitch under the influence. 🍷🧶
So come ramble, come tangle, and come stomp your way through 3 of life’s finest pleasures:
1. Locally sourced live music 🎶
2. Public displays of creativity (drunken or otherwise) 🧶🍻
3. Yarn-based international diplomacy 🌍☮️
