Today is World Bicycle Day - a reminder of the freedom, independence and connection that cycling can bring.

At Asylum Welcome, our Sanctuary Wheels project helps refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants access bikes, repairs and cycling support - opening up opportunities to travel, connect and feel part of the community.

🎬 Join us for a special fundraising screening of Dreamers at The Ultimate Picture Palace.

🕓 4 pm on Saturday 23rd May
📍 The Ultimate Picture Palace (UPP)

This moving new film explores themes of migration, identity and belonging through the story of two young women seeking to build a life together in the UK.

The screening is being held in support of LOCS, Asylum Welcome’s LGBTQ+ support group for asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.

All proceeds will help LOCS continue providing a safe and welcoming space where people can build friendships, find support and celebrate their identities.

Tomorrow, Oxford Phoenix FC play in the Ivor Gubbins Cup Final. Everyone at Asylum Welcome is rooting for them, and we’re sharing their story in a new episode of Welcomecast.

Oxford Phoenix is a football team bringing together young refugees and asylum seekers here in Oxfordshire. In their very first league season, they’ve reached the Cup Final — a remarkable achievement.

In the latest episode, we hear from co-directors Youcef and Ivo, alongside player Arvin, about the team’s journey and how football can create space, connection, and hope during difficult times.
