IT Systems & Devices — This Week’s DSPT Win

Your IT setup doesn’t need to be complicated — a few small checks can make a big difference.

This week’s bite‑sized task:

👉 Check that your systems and devices are safe, up to date, and doing what you need them to do.

For your devices:

Make sure laptops, tablets and phones have automatic updates switched on

Check antivirus is running and current

Remove any devices no one uses anymore

For your systems:

Confirm you’re using secure, approved software

Make sure everyone knows which systems they should be using

Check that old accounts or unused logins have been switched off

These tiny steps protect hours of care — and they all count towards your DSPT.

🗓 Countdown to 30 June 2026 — another calm step forward.

OACP is proud to be part of SESCA — the Connected Care System of the South East. Erica Lockhart MBE will be chairing the SESCA conference on 24 June at Sandown Park, Esher.

Social care across the South East is navigating extraordinary pressure - workforce, funding, demand, policy. No single association can make enough noise alone.

SESCA exists because the sector is stronger when it speaks with one voice. The conference on 24 June is where that voice comes together.

We look forward to seeing you there.

The 4 biggest immigration risks for the care sector

In 2025, the Home Office revoked more than 3,000 sponsor licences.
Care companies are considered among the most at risk.

The four highest‑risk areas are:
1. Variable shift patterns / underpayments
2. Right to work checks
3. Records not being updated / changes in role
4. Breaches by non‑sponsored workers

🌍 15–21 June | Refugee Week

This week, we mark Refugee Week — a time to recognise the valuable contributions of refugees and displaced communities to societies, economies, and workplaces around the world.

At OACP, this is more than a moment of awareness. It reflects our ongoing commitment to building a diverse, inclusive, and globally connected workforce.

💡 Refugees bring:
- international experience and transferable skills
- resilience, adaptability, and determination
- fresh perspectives that strengthen teams and drive innovation

Why does this matter for employers?
An inclusive approach to recruitment helps organisations:

✔ access a broader talent pool
✔ foster innovation and creativity
✔ build stronger, more resilient teams

At OACP, we actively support:
the integration of international professionals into the workforce
equal access to employment opportunities
the development of culturally diverse and high-performing teams

🤝 Refugee Week is a reminder that inclusion is not only a value - it is a competitive advantage.

Let’s continue to create a labour market where every talent has the opportunity to thrive.

If you require support or would like to learn how to make your recruitment processes more inclusive, feel free to reach out to our team — we’re always here to help.

💙 Learning Disability Week takes place Monday 15 to Sunday 21 June 2026.

This week is an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate people with a learning disability - and to reflect on how we can create a more inclusive and supportive society.

People with a learning disability have the right to:
✔ be heard
✔ be valued
✔ live independently
✔ access the same opportunities as everyone else

For those working in social care, this is also a moment to recognise the dedication of staff who support individuals every day - helping them live with dignity, choice and independence.

At the same time, it’s a reminder that there is still more to do:

• improving access to services
• reducing inequalities
• ensuring voices are truly listened to

💬 This week, let’s continue to:
🔹listen
🔹learn
🔹and take action

Because inclusion is not just a campaign - it’s something we build every day.

🔉DSPT shows you exactly what “good” looks like

Only share what’s necessary and always in a secure way — especially when working with partners or external agencies.

Good record‑keeping protects everyone — clear, organised files mean fewer mistakes and faster responses.

Digital or paper — both matter. Lock it, password‑protect it, or store it safely.

Direct care needs quick access, not risky shortcuts — simple best practices keep your team and the people you support safe.

Small habits make a big difference - double‑check before sending, use secure channels, and keep devices protected.
