OXPIP

OXPIP Oxford Parent-Infant Project (OXPIP) provides free parent-infant psychotherapy for parents and infants from pregnancy to 2 years.

Feeling disconnected from your new baby is far more common than most people realise. Donate to us or refer via our website. OXPIP (Oxford Parent Infant Project) is one of the pioneers of parent-infant psychotherapy. Founded in 1998 we have been working in Oxfordshire for fifteen years supporting parents who struggle with the demands of a new baby. We work with babies up to the age of two and their

parents, normally the mother, but we have worked with many fathers as well. Our team of clinicians is highly trained. Backgrounds include Child Psychotherapy, Adult Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology as well as including prior qualifications in Health Visiting, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Teaching. All have undergone Infant Observation Training, and are trained in the use of video through the (NICE approved) Video Interaction Guidance approach. This mix of backgrounds and approaches gives our work additional strength and rigour. We are part of a growing national movement of people and organisations who are bringing greater focus to the importance of early intervention. We work with professionals and policy makers to raise awareness about the importance of parent baby attachment and infant mental health. This work continues to inform mainstream national policy. We also provide specific and innovative training in attachment theory and practice and other interventions that support parent and baby bonding. Our families come from a wide range of social, economic and ethnic backgrounds. Working through children's centres and GP practices, we are currently helping over 300 families in Oxfordshire.
