🌿♻️ From waste to wonder! ♻️🌿

At Name It Youth Project, environmental awareness, nature recovery and climate action underpin so much of the work we do with our young people.

Over the past few months, local community members have been collecting and donating empty plastic bottles with a shared promise that they would be transformed into something meaningful rather than simply thrown away. These photos show exactly that journey – from an ordinary plastic bottle destined for the recycling bin to beautiful handmade sun-catcher decorations created by our girls and young women.

Alongside the creative activity, we explored the importance of recycling, reducing waste and our role as stewards of the world around us. We discussed how caring for nature starts with individual actions but extends into our communities and wider society. We all have a responsibility to protect and nurture the environment for future generations.

The story doesn't end here. The bases of the bottles have become colourful window decorations, while the remaining parts of each bottle will be transformed into bird feeders during a future session, helping to support local wildlife and biodiversity.

Through activities like these, we embed environmental awareness into youth work, encouraging young people to see themselves not only as creators and innovators, but also as custodians of the natural world. 🌍💚

🌸 Introducing Our New Intergenerational Project Series 🌸

Name It Youth Project is delighted to launch a new series of intergenerational workshops designed to bring together Muslim girls, young women, and women from across our community to connect, reflect, learn, and grow together.

We often underestimate the value of our own experiences, yet every Muslimah carries a unique story, a personal journey, and lessons that can inspire, support, and strengthen others. Whether you were born Muslim or embraced Islam later in life, your experiences matter.

This series is built on the belief that meaningful learning happens when we come together as equals. We do not need qualifications, titles, or expertise to share the ways Allah has guided us through life's challenges, blessings, questions, and growth. Some of the most powerful lessons come from authentic conversations, lived experiences, and sincere reflections.

Her Journey, His Guidance is the first event in this new series — a safe, welcoming space where Muslim women and girls can share their journeys in Islam, explore faith and identity, and build genuine connections across generations.

📅 Friday 26th June
🕢 7.30pm – 9.30pm
📍 Al Mahad Al Islami, Industry Road, Darnall
☕ Light refreshments will be provided

Open to girls and young women aged 11+ and all women are warmly welcome.

Join us for an evening of sisterhood, reflection, and conversation as we celebrate the many paths that bring us closer to Allah.
