Pelvic Partnership

Pelvic Partnership Providing support and information about pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP).

https://linktr.ee/Thepelvicpartnership

The Pelvic Partnership provides information to women with PGP and healthcare professionals raising awareness that it is a pelvic joint problem (not hormonal) which responds well to manual therapy treatment. PGP, formerly known as Symphysis P***s Dysfunction (SPD), affects up to 1 in 5 women and causes pain and stiffness in and around the pelvic joints and lo

wer back and can impact on walking, climbing stairs and other activities that most people take for granted. Most women with PGP respond well to treatment from a 'hands on' manual therapist (physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor) but this is often not offered as a treatment option. The Pelvic Partnership is helping to change this and ensure that women receive the correct treatment as soon as their symptoms start preventing long-term pain and disability and the associated emotional and psychological problems this can cause. For more information please visit www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk - we have packed our website with information about PGP, so please do have a read, and use and share this resource.

Last week our Trustee Claire represented the Pelvic Partnership at a meeting with the National Maternity and Neonatal Collective.

Over 100 organisations came together, alongside Secretary of State for Health and Social Care James Murray, Baroness Gillian Merron, Michelle Welsh MP (the government's newly appointed National Maternity Advisor), and Professor Donald Peebles of NHS England.

Together the group discussed the priorites from the collective's plan with the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation team, and how they can actually be implemented.

We are so proud to be part of this collective. Thank you to for convening such powerful work!

πŸ“£ We're going LIVE on Wednesday 24th June at 12pm!

Joining us is Dr Alex Cooke (), an NHS GP, women's health advocate, and champion for maternal mental health.

We'll be talking all things pelvic girdle pain (PGP) and how your GP can help. Pain is not something you just have to put up with.

πŸ’¬ We'll be covering:
βœ”οΈ What GPs know about PGP
βœ”οΈ Clinical guidance for treating PGP
βœ”οΈ What to ask at your 6-week postnatal check β€” and what to expect
βœ”οΈ How your GP can support you

If you've ever been told your pain is "just part of pregnancy" or felt dismissed at an appointment, this one is for you.

Set a reminder and bring your questions!

PGP affects 1 in 5 pregnancies, yet it remains under-researched.

Better research means better diagnosis, better treatment, and better outcomes for everyone who experiences pelvic girdle pain. The people best placed to shape that research are those who have lived it.

Swipe through to find out why PGP research matters, how your experience can make a real difference, and how you can get involved, whether that's completing a short survey, joining an advisory group, or simply sharing your story.
