Young dads from Middlesbrough have been building their confidence and learning new ways to connect with their children through play by attending Playful Parenting workshops at their local Family Hub.

Playful Parenting is one of the workshop programmes that we train practitioners to facilitate for parents and carers of children under 5yrs. The workshops help parents understand how play supports children's learning, development and growing brains and they explore how simple household items can be turned into fun play opportunities, proving that quality play doesn't have to cost a lot.

Head to Middlesbrough’s Family Hubs website to find out how the dads got on.

We recently enjoyed one of our Team Together Days, and what a brilliant day it was!

It was a great chance to step away from the day-to-day, reconnect as a team and most importantly, have some fun and be playful!

We’re already looking forward to the next one 😊

Today, Alison our Head of Business Development, and Robin our Head of Impact and Research are managing our stand at the Early Help: Innovation & Impact conference in London. Children & Young People Now

They’ve seen familiar faces from local authorities and are making new connections with those who work to support families.

They’ve enjoyed introducing to The Nurturing Programme those who aren’t familiar with our programmes for parents and carers of babies, children and young people from 0-19yrs. They all help to build healthy relationships and to navigate the ups and downs of life.

Emotional health is our ability to understand, manage and express our emotions. Our universal, evidence-based programmes for parents focus on self-awareness, empathy and self-regulation, and support people to build and maintain positive relationships.

Alison and Robin would love to talk to you too, so do get in touch.

If you or anyone you know would like to train to deliver the 10 week Nurturing Programme for parents/carers, head to our online training calendar now to book your places for our 4 day Parent Group Leader training coming up in Llandudno, London and Sheffield.

The 10 week Nurturing Programme is recognised by The Department for Education as aligning with Best Start Family Hubs’ aim to support the Government’s GLD (Good Level of Development) ambition in the Parenting Support and Home Learning Environment strands.

Evidence-based, universal and relational, the programme improves the emotional health of both adults and children and strengthens family relationships. Analysis of data from a group of local authorities showed us that 80% of parents finished The Nurturing Programme with more empathy and a better understanding of their child’s emotional needs.

Throughout the UK, the Nurturing Programme is being delivered for groups of parents and carers by local authority services (including Best Start Family Hubs), nurseries, schools, charities, faith organisations and many others.

Do get in touch if you’d like to know more. You may be interested to know that if you have a team of up to 16 people, we can bring our training to you! Drop us a line at [email protected]

We’re looking forward to exhibiting at the Early Help: Innovation & Impact conference on 30th September in London.

The conference, organised by Children & Young People Now, will reflect the rapidly evolving landscape for children’s services, with sessions exploring family help reform, the use of predictive AI in children’s social care, strategies to reduce serious youth violence, and the realities of delivering evidence-based parenting support.

If you’re going to be there, do plan to drop by our stand and say hello!

Whether you know us and our parent programmes already or are interested in hearing about The Nurturing Programme for the first time, we’d love to chat with you.

We recently held our second The Nurturing Programme in Prisons Collaborative Learning Event, bringing together colleagues from prisons, local authorities and charities to share ideas, experiences and learning.

It was wonderful to hear from Sue Campbell, Prison Parenting and Engagement Lead at Liverpool City Council, who spoke about delivering both The Nurturing Programme and our Welcome to the World programme at HMP Altcourse. Her experiences highlighted how important it is to support parents from pregnancy onwards, helping to strengthen family relationships during an incredibly challenging time.

The event also came at a significant moment, following this week's government announcement recognising the importance of identifying and supporting children with a parent in prison. It's positive to see greater recognition of a group of children who have so often remained hidden.

There's still much to do, but every conversation, shared experience and collaboration helps move us in the right direction.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a valuable discussion. We're already looking forward to the next one.
