OCVA We enable a diverse community and voluntary sector to flourish in Oxfordshire. Our aim is to make support available to anyone in whichever form they require.

We support and empower volunteers, networks, non-profit organisations and the community. We can provide advice on funding, business development, networking, volunteer recruitment, placements and training. No problem is too big or small.

Last Thursday we held a successful Funding Surgery in Witney, bringing together local organisations for advice, support and guidance on funding and developing their groups.

We were joined by Kate from The National Lottery Fund, Daisy at Oxfordshire Community Foundation, Tess from Charity Mentors Oxfordshire and Heather from Oxfordshire District Council.

It was a busy and productive day, with 17 local groups taking the opportunity to discuss their plans, explore funding options and get advice on their next steps.

We're delighted that attendees found their session so helpful. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their expertise.

We’ll be holding our next funding surgery in the new year …. so watch this space for booking details.

We are mentioning Christmas already but for good reason!

We know it's a busy time for charities and community organisations with many of you planning festive events that rely on volunteers to help deliver them.

This Christmas, we want to help more people discover the many ways they can volunteer across Oxfordshire.

If your group or organisation is planning a festive event between 1 November and 31 December, we’d love to hear from you. We'll be adding events to our online Christmas calendar and promoting it far and wide!

Find out more and submit your event details at: https://ocva.org.uk/volunteering/christmas-volunteering-calendar/

Do you find it hard to set boundaries at work?

You tell yourself you’ll switch off after the next task. Then the next one. You check emails after hours, just in case something urgent has come in.

In our latest article from certified burnout coach Louisa Daubney, we explore how to identify and begin setting boundaries. Starting with one thing that’s quietly draining your time, energy or attention.

🌟FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

The Connected Communities Fund returns for its 5th year, thanks to funding from Oxfordshire County Council, with £270,000 available to award to charitable organisations and community groups.

This fund supports grassroots organisations to access flexible, accessible funding and ongoing support, with the aim of expanding activities and opportunities in the community that benefit older people (65+) and adults (18+) with additional needs.

It’s part of The Oxfordshire Way, a countywide vision to help people live well and independently in their communities for as long as possible. It’s about building resilience, reducing isolation, and helping people stay active and connected through local group activities that also support the management of disabilities and long-term health conditions.

Last year, 86 grassroot community groups received support across Oxfordshire, in a wide range of activities ranging from Arts & Culture to Community Socialising.

➡ What’s available?
Grants of up to £5,000 per project. Support for projects that help people in Oxfordshire live well, stay active, and remain connected in their communities, with the fund focusing this year on prioritising rural areas and activities for Older People 65+.

➡ Who can apply?
Grassroots organisations providing existing regular group social activities or developing new group activity projects.

For more information & how to apply:

✔️ Check the full eligibility criteria https://ocva.org.uk/connected-communities-fund/

✔️Submit an Application Form

✔️ If your funding is successful, you may receive additional support from OCVA and Community First Oxfordshire

✔️Open to applications from 6th October 2026, reviewed on a rolling basis. (No closing date, open until all funds have been allocated)

Funded by Oxfordshire County Council (Adult Social Care). Delivered in partnership by OCVA and First Oxfordshire.

Come join us and be part of the change in neighbourhood health.

👉The way health and care services are delivered in England is changing. In Oxfordshire, Neighbourhood Health and Care will be delivered through 15 neighbourhoods, organised into three multi-neighbourhood clusters (North Oxfordshire, South Oxfordshire, and Oxford City).

📢We're looking for three people to be responsible for engaging in these communities and creating clear pathways for representation as this new model develops.

Although you will be part of a close-knit team, these roles are very much outward-facing and you will spend much of your time engaging with external partners and communities.

Find out more about these roles on our website: https://ocva.org.uk/2026/09/21/vacancy-vcse-neighbourhood-lead-3-roles-ocva/
