Our Women’s Group supports refugees and asylum seekers to integrate, take part in community life, and build strong, lasting connections with others who understand their experiences.

We are often told how life-changing it is to go from living in an unsafe situation and recovering from trauma, to finding a safe, welcoming space surrounded by women who share similar journeys and offer mutual support.

We're grateful to partner with several organisations in Oxford that provide wellbeing and integration activities to the group - Oxford City Council, Pegasus Theatre, International Tree Foundation, Zine Workshop, HERA Training, Active Oxfordshire, and more.

If you would like to hear directly from our Women’s Group and see the impact of this work, we invite you to join us at St Clements Community Centre in Oxford tomorrow from 10:30am–1pm.

If you’re unable to attend, you can still support the group through a donation via our website - https://www.refugeeresource.org.uk/ways-to-donate.

Every contribution helps us continue providing this vital support💛

It takes courage to rebuild your life after displacement, to start again in a new place, and to form a sense of community from the ground up. Today, we are celebrating the women who have been through so much, yet continue to show strength, resilience, and hope.

During Refugee Week, we are raising funds to support our Women’s Group - a weekly space where women can build connections, improve their wellbeing, and grow in confidence. Your donation will help us continue providing life-changing activities, training opportunities, and the support that empowers women to thrive.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference 💛

Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at the Oxford Sanctuary Fair this weekend.

Being around organisations that are dedicated to making displaced individuals feel safe and welcomed in the community warmed our hearts. ❤️

Tomorrow is the start of Refugee Week, and the theme is Courage. We will be celebrating the strength, resilience, and determination shown by refugees and individuals seeking asylum as they rebuild their lives, with a focus on our Women's Group.

If you're able, we will welcome donations during the week -

We had a great day at the Oxford Sanctuary Fair at Florence Park Community Centre today! 🕊️ 🏚️

We met with organisations making an impact and supporting individuals who are seeking sanctuary in Oxfordshire. We also attended discussions, workshops, and performances, including a fashion show from our women's group.

The Oxford Sanctuary Fair united people from diverse backgrounds and communities, highlighting the power of connection and showing that compassion, welcome, and humanity continue to thrive in Oxford.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit us and to the other organisations making a huge difference to refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants in our community.

Refugee Week begins next week - a time to celebrate the resilience, creativity, contributions, and strength of refugees within our communities.

This year’s theme is Courage, and throughout the week, we’ll be shining a light on our incredible Women’s Group. Through resilience, compassion, and shared experiences, these women have built a supportive community where they uplift, encourage, and care for one another.

We’ll be sharing stories, photos, and videos from our events across the week to celebrate the courage and achievements of the amazing women we work alongside.

We’ll also be encouraging donations, big or small, to help us continue supporting this wonderful group and the vital therapeutic and practical services we provide for refugees and asylum seekers across Oxfordshire.

Our counsellor, Charlotta, attended Oxford Migration Studies Societies' 'Migration, Justice, and the Making of Futures' conference last weekend at University of Oxford.

The conference explored how refugees, migrants, displaced communities, and their allies reimagine understandings of justice, care, and collective futures.

Thank you to everyone who came to speak to us!

We're delighted to be hosting a stall at the Oxford Sanctuary Fair on Saturday 13 June and Sunday 14 June, with our Women's Group also taking part on the Saturday as part of the fashion show, showcasing traditional clothing from their home countries.

The Oxford Sanctuary Fair brings together local organisations, businesses, and community members to celebrate, connect, and share ideas for creating a more welcoming Oxford for refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants.

There will be plenty happening across the weekend, and we look forward to meeting members of the community, sharing our work, and celebrating the incredible organisations making a difference.

We hope to see you there!

This week, we’re celebrating our incredible volunteers and the vital role they play in supporting our charity 💛

From welcoming clients at our front of house, to supporting events and offering their time, skills, and compassion, our volunteers bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for standing alongside refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants within our community.

Our volunteer programme would not be possible without the support of the Oxfordshire Community Foundation Step Change Grant, and we’re so grateful for their commitment to helping us continue this important work.

Thank you to every volunteer who gives their time to make our community more welcoming, supportive, and inclusive 🌍
