Come along to Go Solar: Sizing Your System. Bring your questions, and we’ll help you work out what actually makes sense for your home:

-> Try our brand new online tool, which helps you figure out what size solar PV system might suit your home, plus the likely costs and payback

Thank you to everyone who came to our Go Solar event on 13 October to hear about the links between solar PV, electrification, and safer, cooler homes. 🔌🌤💚

A massive thank you to Dr Felix Leach who presented a fascinating talk on the health impacts of cooking with gas and other sources of indoor air particulates. We also heard from LCON trustee Guy Hargreaves about a demand for air cooling combined with solar PV can help keep our homes comfortable in summer whilst at the same time driving electrification.

💚We’re delighted that Low Carbon Oxford North has been shortlisted for the Oxford Climate Awards in the “Climate Community Group Award” category. 💚

The nomination highlights our Housewarming Programme, now in its 5th year, which provides “structured, friendly workshops for those interested in retrofitting their homes … the personal nature of the case studies, approachability of the organisers and presenters and creation of a friendly, supportive network make a big difference”.

• Discover the hidden health benefits of cooking with electricity
• Find out how best to combine solar PV, heat pumps and air cooling
• Hear the latest on plug-in solar panels

We are delighted to welcome as guest speaker Dr Felix Leach, Associate Professor of Engineering Science from the University of Oxford. Dr Leach’s talk will look at the health impacts of cooking with gas.

We will also explore the links between air cooling, heat pumps, solar PV and batteries, and options for combining these.

There will be time for questions and discussion. Free and open to all — everyone welcome.

📣 We’re hiring: part-time Comms and Marketing Coordinator 📣

Are you passionate about climate action? Low Carbon Oxford North (LCON) is looking for a creative, enthusiastic freelance Communications and Marketing Coordinator to join our friendly team.

It's a flexible, part-time role (1 day a week, £150/day, flexible hours), covering our website, newsletter, social media, campaigns, events and more - your chance to use your storytelling skills to amplify local climate projects, reach new audiences, and build a stronger, healthier community.

You'll work closely with our trustees and be part of a small, award-winning charity making a real difference locally.

THIS WEEK-END! Your chance to visit homes across Oxford to find out how other homeowners have upgraded their homes to make them warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and cheaper to run.

We have 29 homes signed up ready to showcase lots of energy saving measures – from insulation, window upgrading and heat pump heating and cooling, to solar PV and batteries. In 2025, one visitor commented she “learnt more about solar PV in two hours than in years”.
