This week is National Volunteer Week 🙏

So much of what happens in ACT wouldn't be possible without our team of committed and compassionate volunteers.

One of these is George, who faithfully serves in the kitchen team for Monday Night meals. He's a kind listener and a genius at crafting vegan recipes 🍴

Here's what he has to say about volunteering with ACT:

'It’s a huge privilege to volunteer with the ACT team and to fellowship with the wonderful community of guests.

Each Monday evening, a lavish banquet unfolds – not only of hearty food, but also of the Word, of peace, restoration, and joy.

It feels like a little patch of God’s kingdom, revealed here and now – His grace and love poured out across the community, working in the hearts of all of us who gather.'

After this week's Women's Wellbeing Day, one guest shared,

‘I have lived and been homeless all over England and there’s so much support for the community in Oxford, even when I’ve been actually street homeless in other areas there was just never as much support... or maybe there was and I just didn’t know but here it’s so beautiful and kind.’

In a city celebrated for its beauty and prestige, too many people are rough sleeping on the streets. According to recent reports,

📈 Oxfordshire has “high and rising levels of homelessness” (Oxford Health and Wellbeing Board)

💵 Oxford has the highest average rent in the nation outside of London

🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Number of households facing the threat of homelessness increased 111% from 2024 to 2025 (Homeless Oxfordshire)

Our Monday Night Meals, ACT Family and ACT Women events are more than just friendly gatherings. They’re one step on the journey to restoring a city.

At our monthly Community Meals, we journey through the year together.

The harsh winter is now behind us, and the radiators turned down as the windows opened up.

The coldness of January has become the fresh air of May.

At this month's Community Meal, we celebrated birthdays, encouraged those on their recovery journey, and sat with old friends - all over a delicious roast.
