That's what happens in the houses – and gardens – that generous property owners make available to ACT across Oxford.

'Sheer joy' is how former Head of ACT Alex described his time in post as he stepped down yesterday.

Under his leadership we've seen people with experience of prison, addiction or homelessness flourish in all kinds of ways:

- graduating with a first-class degree
- writing powerful poetry
- reconnecting with children and grandchildren
- starting new jobs
- getting engaged
- inspiring others on their recovery journey

There were plenty of tears and lots of laughter as we celebrated all Alex has given to our community.

Across two days, 18 members of our community attended David's Tent Worship Festival, where we had space to deepen friendships and get lost in worship 🙏🏻

With annual leave, breaks from school and holidays, ordinary life can seem on pause in the summer.

And yet our ACT Family still gathers each week. Sitting shoulder to shoulder at Thursday Morning breakfasts. Sharing our favourite Bible verses in the August sun. Even breaking a sweat at the Oxford Golf Centre together.

No matter the season, community shows up. This kind of consistency offers a healing message:

It's Probation Day today, and we'd like to celebrate the strong, kind, wise and dedicated women of the Oxford Probation Delivery Unit team.

We love partnering with them to host fortnightly breakfasts for women in the justice system.

‘You don’t feel judged here,' said one guest, and another, 'Before, it was gut-wrenching, being in the system. But here, I don't know how to improve it.'

This month, we spent four days on retreat in the Shropshire hills with our ACT Family.

Eating cracking meals like chicken shawarma and curry goat. Cannonballing into the pool and breaking a sweat in table tennis. Cheering one another on, whether at a beloved resident's baptism or watching a football match.

It was a week of seeing God do what he loves to do: draw near to us and pour out his love.

A huge thank you to everyone who prayed and generously gave towards this week!

We’re looking for an Outreach Manager to lead our thriving Monday Night and monthly Community Meals, and expand the way we support and serve people facing multiple disadvantage in Oxford.

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) worked flexibly
Salary: £28-32,000 depending on experience
Annual leave: 26 days plus bank holidays
