Appleton Area Archaeological Research Project invites you to visit their excavation at Besselsleigh Manor and its lost Anglo-Saxon village on Saturday 20 April from 10am–3pm. Tours at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm; short talks; displays of finds; a chance to try excavating and metal detecting; explore inside the Church of Lawrence; bring your youngsters to try various activities. Parking is available on the grass, and there are portaloos. No charge, but donations welcome. The site is adjacent to St Lawrence Church, Besselsleigh OX13 5PY, just off the A420. (Please do not go into the drive of Rye House.)

London has gained a new museum that shows off a large, and until now, largely hidden section of Roman wall, and the history of the local area where it was found.

The relatively unknown riverside wall was a massive stone structure in Roman London which connected to the landward wall, now known as London Wall.
