Oxford Civic Society

Oxford Civic Society Oxford Civic Society is for people who care about Oxford, want to enjoy it fully and help shape its future.

We are dedicated to the continuous improvement of Oxford as a wonderful city in which to live, work, study and relax. Our programme
We run a year-round programme of Oxford-themed talks, walks and visits aimed at encouraging an awareness and understanding of our city. The talks (free and open to all) are given by leading speakers and can include Oxford’s history, buildings, arts and science, nature

, business and enterprise, and current development projects. The extensive programme of visits and walks (for members only and usually for a small charge) is led by local experts and held both in the city and in the county. An independent voice for Oxford
We review and comment on individual planning applications so that they have as far as possible a positive effect on people’s lives. We take part in City & County consultations on major plans and projects and often meet with Officers and Councillors to discuss strategic and local issues. We work towards achieving a sustainable travel infrastructure that works well for everyone – people on foot, on cycles, in motorised vehicles and on public transport. We review all areas of housing policy, and publish reports such as Oxford Futures, and our newsletter ‘Visions’ three times per year. Oxclean
OxClean is our initiative dedicated to keeping Oxford clean and tidy, all year around. To find out how you can get involved visit https://www.oxclean.org.uk/
