๐ŸŒณ JOIN OUR NEXT ONLINE TREES COLLABORATE MEETING ๐ŸŒณ

This month we are looking forward to an update from Ruth Staples-Rolfe, Mend the Gap Programme Manager.

Mend the Gap is National Landscape programme that runs near the railway from Reading to Didcot, aiming to soften the impact of the gantries, installed by network rail in two protected landscapes.

Ruth will focus on the Mitigation planting that Mend the Gap is carrying out and some of the considerations and barriers faced during the project.

Tues 23rd June, 7.30 pm - email [email protected] for link

All welcome, please share widely.

This little one has been resting in our garden lately.

I've been topping up the water sources in the garden today.

Give nature a helping hand and pop a shallow bowl of water out for your garden visitors.

It's good to have some in different places - we have a dish on the ground for the mammals ๐ŸฆŒ and trays on the table for birds ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ› and cheeky squirrels ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ

๐ŸŒณ GARDEN TREE GIVEAWAY: SEND YOUR PHOTOS ๐ŸŒณ

Have you received a tree from us as part of the Oxfordshire Garden Tree Giveaway?

We would love to know how it's doing and receive a picture of it in leaf or flower. Also let us know the year you received it if possible.

Email your photos to [email protected]

Remember to keep watering your tree regularly for the first three years. They'll need roughly 50 litres per week over the summer! Rain water is best, but if using tap water leave it outside in a bucket for 24 hours beforehand for the chlorine to evaporate.

We expect to be running the giveaway again this year and will be offering single garden trees and hedgerow packs to applicants.

๐ŸฆŠ It's nearly time for this year's running from 24th to 27th April ๐Ÿฆ‹

A chance to get outside and notice the nature all around us ... and to take the next step and start recording it.

We can't protect what we don't know exists.

Last month we heard all about how to get involved in this citizen science campaign from Dr Julian Parfitt.

Watch the recording on YouTube: https://youtu.be/2KGjqMHkkfA

To find out more about the Oxfordshire (not just City) challenge and get involved, visit the Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre website: https://tverc.org/recorders/are-you-noticing-wildlife/city-nature-challenge

We're excited to announce the City Nature Challenge (CNC) from 24th to 27th April 2026, in Berkshire and Oxfordshire! Join us in documenting wildlife across both counties.

Immerse yourself in the beauty and vibrancy of Marston Forest Garden in spring this Saturday evening.

This one-hour guided session is an opportunity to wander and wonder, relax, breathe and connect with Nature and the life all around.

After an introduction to the forest garden, they'll be some time to become present, followed by stillness or wandering to enjoy the plants, colours, scents and tastes of the Garden. Thereโ€™ll also be space to share experience.

Sat 11 April 18-30-19.30, future dates in May and June
No need to book.
