Overton Choral Society

*Could you be Overton Choral Society’s new accompanist?*

Overton Choral Society is looking for an experienced pianist to accompany our rehearsals and concerts to start as soon as possible.
We’re a friendly SATB choir of around 20 singers, established over 100 years ago, with a varied repertoire and strong links to local choral festivals. We rehearse on Monday evenings, 7.45–9.15pm, in Overton, Hampshire RG25 3HA.
If you’re a confident pianist with experience accompanying singers or choirs, we’d love to hear from you. This is not an employed post so it would be on a freelance basis. Payment will be linked to experience.
Interested? Please contact [email protected] or visit www.overtonchoralsociety.org.uk to find out more.

FUN FACTS ABOUT MOZART!
Did you know…

This piece was commissioned anonymously by a messenger dressed in grey. This led Mozart to believe he might be writing the music for his own funeral.

Many myths grew around the Requiem, including stories that Mozart was poisoned or obsessed with death while composing it. Historians generally reject these claims, but the mystery remains part of its appeal!

Come and join us as we perform this fabulous work with the Wi******er Symphony Orchestra on 11th July, 6pm at St Paul’s Church!

£10 tickets still available, but not for long!

Excited to be singing this with Wi******er City Festival Choir and Botley Choral Society in just two weeks time!

Step into a world where sacred music meets operatic brilliance with Rossini’s magnificent Petite Messe Solennelle. Composed in 1863, this masterwork stands as a testament to Rossini’s genius, deftly bridging his celebrated operatic flair with profound spiritual depth. Far from being either “petite” or strictly “solemn”, the Petite Messe Solennelle is a captivating blend of drama, lyricism, and heartfelt devotion, offering listeners a richly rewarding and unique musical experience.

Join WCFC and two other choirs of the Hampshire Choral Festival for an unforgettable evening as a talented line-up of vocal soloists, chorus, pianist and harmonium player breathe life into this extraordinary score. From the exquisite “Kyrie” to the jubilant “Gloria”, each movement unveils a new layer of emotional and musical intensity, combining operatic colour with sacred reverence. Whether you are a seasoned concert-goer or new to choral music, Rossini’s masterpiece promises to delight and inspire.

The performance will be conducted by David Burgess, Festival Director of Music and Musical Director of one of the
participating choirs, Botley Choral Society. For tickets, click on bio.
