Ottery Help Scheme We are a registered charity providing a variety of support services to all adults who live in Ottery St Mary and its surrounding areas.

​The aims of Ottery Help Scheme are to unite and mobilise the goodwill of our community, offering support to local residents where it is needed most in times of illness, difficulty or life-changing circumstance. We have 900 clients on our database and over 120 volunteers who offer their time to help where needed. Our services include Community Transport, befriending/carer sitting, nail cutting, me

🚶‍♀️ New Wellbeing Walks Launch This Month! 🚶‍♂️

We are delighted to announce the start of our new Wellbeing Walks.

Our first walk will take place on Tuesday 22nd September, led by our trained volunteer, John.

📍 Meet outside Ottery Help Scheme at 1.45pm
🚶 Walk starts at 2.00pm
⏱️ Gentle 45 minute walk around Ottery

After the walk, you're warmly invited to join us for refreshments at a local café.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather, and remember to bring a bottle of water.

🌟 Could You Share a Skill, Hobby or Interest? 🌟

Ottery Help Scheme is looking for friendly local people who would be willing to share a skill, hobby or passion at one of our community groups.

We're seeking people who could offer a short talk, demonstration or activity on subjects such as:

🌸 Flower arranging
🎨 Arts and crafts
🌿 Gardening
🍰 Baking
📖 Local history
🎵 Music
✈️ Travel experiences
📸 Photography
🧶 Knitting and sewing
..or anything else you enjoy and would like to share!

You don't need to be a professional, just someone who is enthusiastic about their interest and enjoys meeting new people.

Our groups help bring people together, encourage new friendships and support wellbeing within our community.

🎨 Last week, we hosted the final session in our Art Workshop series.

The workshops have been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore creativity, learn new skills, and connect with others.

A special thank you to Dee for leading the sessions with such enthusiasm, talent, and dedication. Your passion and encouragement helped make the series a truly enjoyable experience for all involved.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers who supported the workshops throughout the series. Your time, commitment, and support played a vital role in making these sessions such a success.

On the 27th August 2 - 4pm we will be holding our monthly Memory Café. This a a group for those affected by memory loss and dementia, as well as the family members and carers who support them every day.

Our sessions are run by a team of dedicated volunteers who help create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Plus there is always homemade cake and a cuppa!

We are always delighted to welcome new faces and would encourage anyone who may benefit from attending to come along and see what we offer.

We’re excited to share details of the third in our new series of Art Workshops on Monday 10th August, 10am–12pm!

In this workshop we will be making a place mat using collage and lamination.

✨ All abilities welcome – whether you consider yourself to be arty or not.

☀️ It may be the summer holidays for the children, but there is still plenty going on for adults at Ottery Help Scheme!

Last week, our Friendship Group was delighted to be entertained by the talented students of JW Dance. Their energy, enthusiasm, and wonderful performances brought smiles to everyone's faces.
