Important decisions for Wi******er.......

There are some significant decisions coming up at Wi******er City Council meetings over the summer, with major implications for the future of our city.

Among the key items are the proposed acquisition of St Clements Surgery as part of the Central Wi******er Regeneration programme, and the disposal of the former Bar End Depot site.

These decisions form part of a wider picture of how Wi******er will evolve, balancing regeneration, housing, public services and community needs.

Looking ahead, one of the most anticipated decisions this summer will be the future of the former River Park Leisure Centre site. Residents will be keen to see what comes forward, including the possibility of a new sports-focused use such as a lido, which has generated considerable local interest.

The choices made over the coming months will help shape Wi******er for decades to come. If you're interested in the future of our city, it's well worth keeping an eye on these discussions and please share your views!

The warm weather has made the Compton and Shawford lock area with access to the river very popular, and a sunset cruise and river swim is being advertised on social media this evening.

My councillor colleague, for Twyford, Councillor Sue Cook, has notified the local police, parish council and other relevant agencies to expect a large number of visitors this evening.

If you witness any issues or anti-social behaviour, please report them via Police 101. Thank you for helping to keep our local area safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Update from me........

To everyone who supported me in the Hampshire County Council election for Wi******er Downlands — thank you.

While I’m naturally disappointed to have lost my seat, it has been a real privilege to represent our community and to campaign on the issues that matter to local residents. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for me, helped during the campaign, spoke to me on the doorstep, delivered leaflets, or offered encouragement along the way. I will continue to work as your Wi******er City Councillor for my local ward area.

Congratulations to the newly elected councillor for Wi******er Downlands and to my colleagues on Hampshire County Council led by Cllr Nick Adams-King. I wish them every success in serving our community and know they will work hard for all residents across our county,

Public service is always bigger than any one election result, and I remain proud of what we achieved together. Thank you again for your trust, support, and friendship throughout this journey.

My Pledge to You 🤝

On Thursday you will make an important choice about our community’s future.

This local election will decide who speaks for you and who delivers the services we rely on every day.

It has been a privilege to serve as a local councillor for the past 15 years, including nine years as your County Councillor, and as Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council since 2023.

During this time I have worked hard to stand up for our area, listen to residents, and deliver real results.

Alongside my role as an NHS hospital pharmacist, I bring practical experience, sound judgement, and a strong commitment to public service.

With growing pressure on local services and increased housing demands across Wi******er, experience will really matter.

Our community needs councillors who understand the planning system, can speak up and challenge poor decisions, and will stand firm to protect what makes our area special.

As your local Councillor I have:

✅ Protected our countryside from inappropriate development, including Royaldown, Bushfield, Cranbourne Drive, and South Wi******er Golf Course.

✅ Gained the support of the Police & Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, for 40-30mph road speed reductions.

✅ Delivered a new crossing in Otterbourne, plans for a new junction in Oliver’s Battery, and supported community funded gateways across our villages.

✅ Championed doorstep glass recycling, sustainable community projects and the Wi******er to Worthy Down and South Wonston cycle path.

There is more to do; defending our farmland, and ensuring growth is right for our area.

On Thursday 7 May, I ask for your support so I can continue to be your strong, experienced local voice.

With very best wishes,

Jan Warwick
