Hunger Stone : The recent droughts in Europe once again made visible the "Hunger Stones" in some Czech and German rivers. These stones were used to mark desperately low river levels that would forecast famines.
This one, in the Elbe river, is from 1616 and says: "If you see me, cry"

With just over a month left until we take to the streets, Extinction Rebellion is building in numbers and gaining momentum. From September 10th we will come together in London to demand a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice to bypass those blocking progress in Westminster and give power back to the people.

The plan for September will centre people power and mobilisation at the heart, because growing this movement will make us impossible to ignore. The plan will be in 4 phases:

❗️ PHASE 1: Mass London and UK - wide Paint the Streets on the evening of Friday 9th Sept!

❗️ PHASE 2: Meet at Marble Arch on September 10th for 3 days of direct democracy, community building & resistance in an undisclosed, disruptive green space.

❗️ PHASE 3: Rebellion Buses will tour the country over 4 weeks, hosting People’s Assemblies, meeting and hearing from local groups and communities, engaging in intensive mobilisation.

❗️ PHASE 4: On the 14th October we invite everyone to come back to Westminster, London for disruptive nonviolent civil disobedience calling for an immediate end to fossil fuels!

Extinction Rebellion has a unique plan to walk the walk this year and reach new people in communities, so that next year we will be the unstoppable force needed to bring about rapid change.

I am sick of seeing Shell BP advertising saying how climate friendly they are, gives me some hope to see some advertising agencies refusing to work with such companies.
