Free Party: A Folk History is major new, independently made, feature documentary following the birth of the free party movement in the late 80s and early 90s and the impact it's had on our present times. The film follows the inception of the movement, a meeting between ravers and the new age travellers during Thatcher's last days in power, and the explosive years that followed, leading up the infamous Castlemorton free festival in 1992 - the largest ever illegal rave, which provoked the drastic change of the laws of trespass with the notorious introduction of the Criminal Justice Act in 1994.

💋🪩CAROL HODGE🎈❄️Carol Hodge kicked off her January Blues Buster Tour with us on Friday! She made us sing. She blew us away and swept us into 2026 with our first gig of the year. Today, Saturday, UpCo in Otley will be open for those of you who really really really wanted to see Jon Langford’s glorious paintings when the exhibition opened but you couldn’t make it because you had friends round or had to visit your elderly mum or there was football on the telly.
This exhibition is a collection of portraits of cultural and counter-cultural icons draped in the flotsam and jetsam of rock n roll iconography. Beautiful beautiful pictures. You don’t need to buy one, just come and look closely at the fine, funny, up-close detail in every painting… in the quiet solace of our upstairs room on Courthouse Street.
Open today between 1pm and 4pm. Just walk in.
