We had to cancel three fundraising events planned for this year due to low ticket sales.
It’s a reality many charities are facing right now - even though the need for hospice care continues to grow.
Each ticket sold doesn’t just fill a seat.
It helps fund hospice care, support medical teams, and bring comfort to families across South and Eastern Europe ❤️
We work hard to secure sponsorship, donated prizes and pro bono support wherever possible, so that as much income as possible goes directly towards our charitable work.
That’s why ticket sales matter so much - they are what turn our events into real impact.
More than ever, we would love to see you with us — at a table, with friends, making a real difference together.

“When I arrived, I immediately knew something was wrong. Maria was in respiratory failure. It was critical, and she needed urgent hospital care.”

Csilla, one of our partner paediatric home-care nurses, shares this moment from her work supporting children at home. ❤️

“I have known Maria for years through our home-care service. We have supported her through repeated hospitalisations and fragile recoveries. We had previously discussed a nasogastric tube, but her parents weren’t ready at the time. I understood — these decisions take time.

That day, everything changed quickly. There was no time to wait.

In that moment, my role was not only medical. It was also to help her mother face a very difficult decision. I explained calmly what I was seeing and why hospital care was necessary.

She agreed. Maria was taken to the emergency hospital in time. Today, she is more stable and able to spend more time at home again. ❤️

Children’s Hospices Week is a reminder of children like Maria - living with serious illness, and families facing fear, uncertainty, and decisions no parent should have to make alone.

Caring for a loved one can be one of the most meaningful things we ever do, but it can also feel overwhelming and isolating. Many carers carry the weight of responsibility quietly, often putting their own needs aside.

For Ana, becoming a carer happened overnight.

One ordinary afternoon changed everything when her mother was diagnosed with an advanced brain tumour. As the family prepared to care for her at home, they were faced with fears, doubts, and the challenge of navigating an unfamiliar journey.

Through regular calls, home visits, practical advice, and emotional support, BELhospice helped them feel less alone.

As Ana shared:

“What was most important to me was their moral support, which they gave unconditionally. We had our questions, and they gave us answers.”

This Carers Week, we are recognising not only patients, but also the family members and loved ones who care for them every day. Hospice care is about more than supporting patients - it’s about ensuring carers feel seen, supported, and never alone.

We are deeply saddened by the recent large-scale attacks across Ukraine.
Amid the ongoing war, palliative care continues — often in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions.

Nurse Olena, part of our Kyiv team working with our partner CF Svoyi, is one of many dedicated professionals making this possible.

With frequent power cuts, lifts are often not working. This means Olena regularly climbs multiple flights of stairs, sometimes up to the 15th–20th floor, carrying heavy medical bags with essential medication and equipment to reach her patients.
Despite everything, she has not missed a single patient visit this year.

In the past month alone, Olena supported nearly 30 patients, many in the very final stages of life. Her work includes pain and symptom control, wound care, hygiene support, and helping families care for their loved ones at home.

One patient, a 72-year-old woman with stomach cancer, received daily care for a week, including weekends. Her family later described the support as compassionate, calm, and deeply reassuring during an extremely difficult time. She died peacefully, and Olena continued to support her family afterwards. In May 2026, they returned to thank the team in person, bringing flowers in gratitude.

Stories like this remind us why this work matters, especially now.
Please help us continue to provide vital palliative care in Ukraine.
