Oswestry Community Action (OCA), otherwise known as Qube, is a charity which aims to positively impact health and wellbeing and improve the quality of life for people in Shropshire and the Borderlands. OCA began as Oswestry Helpmates in 1989 with an ethos o

f access to services for all. Our services have been developed over time in response to local need such as rural poverty and lack of opportunities. We offer a wide range of meaningful initiatives to serve the people of Oswestry and the surrounding areas, including community transport, volunteering opportunities, community well-being groups and a fully accessible creative space for arts and workshops. Ultimately, we want our visitors to come and see us, feel safe and understood, and have a team on hand to support their needs and any additional requirements.

🎉 A huge congratulations to our newest Infant Feeding Volunteers! 🎉

Recently our latest group completed their course sessions and are almost at the finish line. There are just a few final bits and bobs for some of them to complete before they receive their badges from the BreastFeeding Network.

We're so proud of the commitment, enthusiasm, and dedication they've shown throughout the training. We can't wait to welcome them into the team and see the difference they'll make supporting local families on their infant feeding journeys.

🌟 Become a Cancer Champion in Shropshire 🌟

Could you help make a difference in your community?

Cancer Champions are volunteers who help raise awareness of cancer prevention, screening, and the importance of early diagnosis. By sharing trusted information with friends, family, colleagues, and local groups, you can help people make informed choices about their health.

No medical background is needed—just a passion for supporting your community and helping others access life-saving information.

💜 Funded training provided
💜 Make a real difference to local people's lives
💜 Join a network of like-minded volunteers across Shropshire

Every conversation counts. Together, we can help improve cancer awareness and encourage more people to take up screening opportunities and seek help when they need it.

From 12th June, we won’t be open to the public, but that doesn’t mean to say you can’t still use the services you know and love, Shopmobility being one of them.

The only difference in our Shopmobility service is you can’t just drop in and ask for a scooter or wheelchair, you’ll now need to book a day or two in advance so we can make sure we have the equipment ready for you to come and collect.

A couple of weeks ago, our OCA Social Group enjoyed our annual canal trip with the wonderful The Heulwen Trust in Welshpool.

We spent a peaceful day cruising along the beautiful Montgomery Canal, surrounded by stunning scenery, wildlife, and great company. There were smiles all around as everyone relaxed, chatted, and took in the tranquillity of the day.

A huge thank you to the Heulwen Trust Charity for their warm welcome and for making this special outing possible. It was another memorable day filled with friendship, laughter, and appreciation for the natural beauty around us.

This week!!! Reducing Stress & Balancing Hormones in Menopause
📅 Thursday 11th June
🕡 6.30pm – 8.00pm
📍 OCA (Qube), Oswald Road

Take some time for yourself this June and discover the calming, restorative practice of Qi Gong with local instructor Claire.

Qi Gong combines gentle movement, deep breathing, and mindful focus to help balance the body’s energy and support mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Research suggests it can help ease menopause symptoms such as hot flushes, anxiety, fatigue, and insomnia, naturally and gently. 💜

No need to book, but it would help us to know numbers. Email [email protected] to register your interest or find out more.

Come along, unwind, and leave feeling calmer, balanced, and re-energised.
