A SEE YOU SOON, NOT A GOODBYE β€οΈ
Last month was our final Armed Forces Coffee Morning, and while itβs not a post we ever really wanted to write, we wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past year.
To every veteran who walked through the doors, sat down for a brew, shared a story, had a laugh, or simply came along for a bit of company β thank you. It has been a genuine pleasure and an absolute honour to meet so many of you and hear your stories. You are the reason we started this in the first place. π¬π§
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the coffee morning never quite became the regular community hub we had hoped it would. After funding it ourselves for the past year, it simply isn't something we can continue to carry financially at this time.
But before we close this chapter, there are some very special people we need to thank.
A massive thank you to Neil Habbersfield, veteran and Chairman of Ormskirk Rugby Club, and to everyone at Ormskirk Rugby Club for giving us the space, welcoming us into the club and supporting what we were trying to build. Without that support, none of this would have been possible.
A huge thank you also goes to Ruth from Morrisons Community, who provided food and vouchers throughout the year. Your generosity was hugely appreciated and helped us provide those breakfasts and, more importantly, made people feel welcome.
And then there are the people who stood beside me in the kitchen and made sure we could actually feed everyone!
π©βπ³ Sophia Hennessy β still serving and always willing to step up.
π©βπ³ Nikki Hennessyβ veteran, wife and absolute star.
π¨βπ³ Jamie Websterβ veteran and one of the brilliant people who stepped in when we needed an extra pair of hands.
We wouldn't have had a coffee morning β or those breakfasts β without you.
Although the coffee morning is ending, my commitment to supporting veterans in our community isn't.
I'll continue supporting veterans in my own way, and we're keeping this page open. Who knows what the future might bring? Hopefully, one day we might be in a position to revisit the idea, build on what we've learned and create something that can genuinely become the community space we always wanted it to be.
For now, to everyone who supported us, attended, donated, cooked, volunteered, shared our posts or simply believed in what we were trying to do:
Thank you. β€οΈ
This isn't goodbye, From our family to yours
It's see you soon. π¬π§
Lest we forget.
