In celebration of Love Your Local Market week, the Ormskirk Heritage Hub team will be on hand tomorrow (21st May 2026) to talk about our historic market from its ancient beginnings in 1286 to its 740th anniversary in 2026 and everything in between. Drop in for a chat.

This year, Volunteers' Week will be running from 1st to 6th June 2026, a significant week for Ormskirk and District Family History Society, because our organisation wouldn't exist without the small team of volunteers working away behind the scenes to make sure that everything about ODFHS runs smoothly.

If you're interested in family or local history, and you've got a little time to spare now and then, perhaps you'd be interested in helping us? We're particularly keen to hear from anyone who could help out at the public events we attend, but there are many other ways to lend a hand - as a small society, we'd love to hear from anyone who might like to help us!

HERITAGE TALKS: ORMSKIRK MARKET

An illustrated talk by Dot Broady Hawkes

The third of this year's Ormskirk Heritage Talks will take place on Tuesday 2nd December 2025 in the hall at St. Anne’s Pastoral Centre.
Come and join us for an interesting and entertaining talk on Ormskirk’s historic market, set up through Ormskirk’s Charter in 1286 during the reign of Edward I.
Taking place each week on Thursdays and Saturdays, the market attracts townsfolk and visitors from all over Lancashire.
The afternoon will start with tea and coffee and people are encouraged to stay on afterwards to chat and maybe ask Dot questions about her talk.
