📣Call for Evidence 🫵🏻

My Bill to address Age Discrimination in Goods, Facilities & Service is at Committee Stage.

Today the Committee launched its Call for Evidence. Your opportunity to give views on important draft legislation that could affect the services you use including healthcare, education, hospitality, insurance, banking and leisure services.

Northern Ireland remains the only part of the UK and Ireland where you can be discriminated against on the basis of your age in the areas of goods, facilities and services. My Bill aims to finally change that.

A huge thank you to Kacey and Selina for their wonderful donation towards dementia services in Fermanagh, made in memory of Jock.

SWAP is proud to support the Fermanagh Dementia Singing Group, and this generous gift will make a real difference. It will help keep the doors open, the tea flowing, the friendships growing and the gentle support going.

Most importantly, it will help us continue to provide a safe, welcoming space where people living with dementia and their carers can come together, sing and have some fun. Thank you both 💜

💙 Celebrating our B-Friend Hub Volunteers during Befriending Week!

This Befriending Week, we want to take a moment to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our wonderful The B-Friend Hub Omagh volunteers at Omagh Volunteer Centre.

Every day, our volunteers make a real difference to the lives of people in our community. Whether it's making a friendly morning telephone call, taking time for a home visit, sharing a conversation, or simply being there to listen, these small acts of kindness can have an enormous impact.

For someone who may be feeling lonely or isolated, knowing that someone cares, takes the time to check in and looks forward to speaking with them can mean the world.

Our volunteers give their time, compassion and friendship so generously, helping to build connections, reduce loneliness and remind people that they are valued and never forgotten.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do. Your kindness, commitment and dedication make our B-Friend Hub such a special service and help make our community a more caring and connected place.

We’ve been asked to look into how the closure of local banks has affected older people across the district, and I’ve put together a short questionnaire to help us understand this better. It should only take a few minutes, and I’d be very grateful if you could fill it in.
