Eid Mubarak to everyone in our community 🌙

As we celebrate Eid with our families and loved ones, we also reflect on the strength and unity we’ve shown together over the past few weeks. This campaign has brought people from across the country together for one clear cause, to stand up for what matters to us.

The Manchester to Sylhet route is more than just a flight. It connects families, supports businesses, and is a lifeline for so many in our community. That’s why this movement means so much.

Even during this time of celebration, we will not lose momentum. We will continue to push forward until our voices are heard and our demands are met.

Wishing you and your families a peaceful and joyful Eid.

BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will officially reopen the Manchester to Sylhet route from 1 July 2026.

This is a huge moment for the people of Sylhet and for the British Bangladeshi community who have campaigned tirelessly to see this route return.

We want to thank everyone who stood behind this campaign. From the organisers who worked day and night, to the protesters who raised their voices, to the community members who supported the cause and refused to let this issue be ignored. Your determination made this possible.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the Government of Bangladesh, the leadership and directors at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and all those involved in listening to the concerns of the community and taking action.

This route is more than just a flight. It connects families, strengthens communities and recognises the deep ties between the UK and Sylhet.

We also hope this marks a new chapter for Sylhet Osmani International Airport, ensuring it continues to grow and serve the millions of people who rely on it.

Today shows what can be achieved when a community stands together.

Today we were joined by Paul Waugh MP for Rochdale and Afzal Khan MP for Manchester Gorton, who both congratulated the new government of Bangladesh and made a respectful request for the Manchester to Sylhet route to be reinstated.

They highlighted how important this route is for British Bangladeshis and the wider community, not just for travel, but for family ties, business links and long-term growth between the UK and Bangladesh.

We are grateful to have the support of senior MPs who understand how vital this route is and are willing to speak up for the community.

An update on the Save Manchester to Sylhet campaign.

We have now spoken directly with government officials in Bangladesh and are actively liaising with them to bring the Manchester route back. Our concerns have been heard and the response so far has been welcoming and constructive.

We want to thank those officials for taking the time to listen and engage with us seriously.

But the campaign does not stop here. We will continue pushing until the Manchester to Sylhet route is fully restored and Sylhet Osmani Airport is opened properly as a true international airport for all airlines.

Our route. Our right.

We are getting very close in our campaign to stop Biman Bangladesh Airlines from shutting the Manchester to Sylhet route.

With the new government now formed, we are closer than ever to securing the future of this vital connection. The momentum is building, voices are being heard, and the pressure is working.

We will continue pushing until this route is protected and the people of Sylhet are properly listened to.

We are absolutely delighted to share that another senior UK Member of Parliament has expressed his awareness and support for the importance of the Manchester–Sylhet route.

Thank you to Andrew Western, Member of Parliament for Stretford and Urmston, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, for engaging with our campaign.

The Manchester–Sylhet route is not just a flight connection, it is a vital lifeline for families, businesses, students, and the wider British-Bangladeshi community across Greater Manchester and beyond. For thousands of our residents, this route maintains essential cultural, social, and economic ties.

We are grateful that senior voices in Parliament continue to recognise the importance of protecting this critical connection. We look forward to working constructively with MPs across parties to ensure this route remains secure for future generations.

In the aftermath of the general elections, the formation of a new government marks an important moment for our campaign.

Mr Humayun Kabir, Joint General Secretary for International Affairs of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, has publicly given his support to our campaign. He has stood with the people of Sylhet who want the Manchester–Sylhet route to remain and, most importantly, for Osmani International Airport to be opened to all airlines.

This support matters. The people of Sylhet have been clear about what they want, and it is encouraging to see this now being recognised at a national level.

We thank Mr Humayun Kabir for backing the people and we welcome the newly formed government of Bangladesh 🇧🇩
