To all my cadets and CFAV at Oldham Unit,

As we celebrate National Cadets Week, I want to take a moment to recognise and thank every single person who makes our cadet family what it is.

To my cadets, I am incredibly proud of you. Every parade, training night, camp, community event and challenge you take on helps you grow not only as cadets, but as confident, disciplined and capable young people. Remember that being a cadet is about far more than wearing a uniform. It is about teamwork, resilience, leadership, respect and having the courage to push yourself beyond what you thought you could achieve.

Every one of you has something valuable to contribute. Keep supporting one another, keep challenging yourselves, and never underestimate what you are capable of achieving.

To my staff, thank you for everything you do, often behind the scenes and without recognition. The time, effort, patience and commitment you give to our cadets does not go unnoticed. You give up evenings, weekends and your own time to provide opportunities, guidance and experiences that our cadets will remember for years to come.

Our success is not measured simply by numbers, awards or achievements. It is measured by the young people we help develop and the positive difference we make in their lives.

I am proud to command such a dedicated group of cadets and staff. Thank you for your commitment, your teamwork and your continued support.

Let us continue to represent our unit with pride, respect and determination, and show everyone what our cadets are capable of.

We are incredibly proud to share this special message from His Majesty King Charles III, sent to cadets, CFAV, families and supporters across the United Kingdom during the inaugural National Cadets Week.

His Majesty recognises the tremendous contribution that the Cadet Forces make to young people - developing confidence, resilience, leadership, teamwork, responsibility and a sense of service.

As Oldham Sea Cadets, we see these qualities every week in our cadets. From learning new skills and taking on challenges, to supporting our community and building friendships, being a Sea Cadet is about so much more than wearing a uniform. ⚓🩵

A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated CFAV, whose time, energy and commitment make everything we do possible. 👏

🌳⚓ Millennium Green Day: Sholver 🌿

What a fantastic day at Millennium Green Day in Sholver! A wonderful day filled with community, nature, adventure and plenty of opportunities to get involved! 🩵💚

Our cadets were proud to take part in the memorial tree planting in honour of Ginny Alexander, helping to create a lasting tribute that will grow and be enjoyed by the community for years to come 🌱💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and visited our Sea Cadets stall. It was fantastic to meet so many members of the local community, chat about what we do and share a little more about life in the Sea Cadets ⚓️

It was fantastic to see some of our cadets and staff getting involved in helping out at Sholver Millennium Green as part of our community impact work.

Giving back to the local community is a really important part of what we do. Activities like this give our cadets the opportunity to develop teamwork, communication, leadership and practical skills, while also seeing the positive difference they can make to the environment and the people around them.

It’s also a great way for cadets to build confidence, take responsibility and feel a genuine sense of pride in contributing to their local community.

A big well done to everyone who got involved, your time and effort really does make a difference! 👏🌿
