💻 Coding, robotics, creativity… and plenty of problem-solving.

Our young people have been working with Jamie, our IT and coding whizz, during weekly coding and robotics sessions packed with hands-on learning.

So far they’ve:
✨ Built step counters
✨ Created simple two-player games
✨ Designed lighting rigs for shoe box animation sets alongside our animation lead, Miles.

What makes these sessions special is how naturally creativity and technology come together.

Young people are developing coding knowledge, logical thinking, teamwork, resilience, and confidence — often without even realising how much they’re learning along the way.

All within a calm, small-group environment designed to help young people reconnect with learning in a positive way.

🎬 Three young people. Three powerful stories. Three completely different films.

Our latest Wednesday filmmaking group has just wrapped up — and the work they created was incredible.

Each young person explored challenges they had personally experienced, including:
✨ Tourette’s
✨ School life
✨ Bullying and overcoming adversity

What made it even more special was how differently each story was told.

One used animation.
One combined photography, music, and voiceover.
One brought ideas to life through stop motion.

Different styles. Different voices. The same courage to create something meaningful.

Over six weeks, we watched nervous young people grow in confidence, develop friendships, and realise they were capable of producing work they could feel genuinely proud of.

And now… the next group is almost here.

🎬 Creative Connections Group | Every Wednesday

A calm, creative space for young people who are home educated or currently not attending school.

Our weekly Creative Connections sessions combine filmmaking and creativity with something equally important — social connection.

For many young people, making new connections can feel difficult. The desire is there, but anxiety and past experiences can make reaching out feel overwhelming.

So we create something different.
✨ Small groups
✨ No pressure to “fit in”
✨ Shared creative projects
✨ A chance to meet like-minded young people

Alongside learning filmmaking skills, young people begin to rebuild confidence around socialising, communication, and being part of a group again.

For some, it becomes a gentle step back into learning and education — at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Our young people have been working on set design and stop motion projects, carefully building scenes frame by frame to bring their ideas to life.

What looks like a simple creative activity is actually developing so many important skills:

✨ Patience and focus
✨ Planning and sequencing
✨ Problem-solving
✨ Confidence in creative decision making

And perhaps most importantly… learning that their ideas are worth developing and sharing.

In a calm, small-group environment, creativity becomes something they can truly enjoy without pressure or comparison.

We recently welcomed a guest speaker to talk to our young people about her journey through animation education and into the creative industry.

Hearing real stories from someone working within the field helps our young people begin to see new possibilities for themselves.

Not just dreams that feel distant… but real pathways that can start with small steps taken today.

✨ Exploring creative careers
✨ Building confidence in their interests
✨ Asking questions and feeling inspired
✨ Seeing that their creativity has value

For young people who may have struggled in traditional education settings, moments like these can quietly change the way they see their future.

Not every young person learns best in busy, high-pressure environments.

Some need calm.

Some need space.

Some simply need the chance to feel comfortable enough to try again.

That’s why our sessions are intentionally small, supportive, and low pressure.

Within that environment, we often see something incredible happen…
✨ Young people begin to focus
✨ Confidence slowly grows
✨ Creativity starts to flow
✨ Learning feels possible again

Because when the noise fades, young people are often able to rediscover what they’re capable of.

Creative spaces and creative minds are a powerful combination.

When young people are given a calm environment, supportive staff, and the freedom to explore their ideas without pressure… something begins to grow.

Confidence.
Curiosity.
Pride in what they create.

For many of our young people, creativity becomes more than an activity. It becomes a way to reconnect with learning, express themselves safely, and realise they are capable of more than they thought.

Our regular wellness walks have become a gentle, grounding part of the week.

No pressure. No expectations. Just a steady pace, fresh air, and space to be.

For many of our young people, walking side by side feels easier than sitting face to face. Words come more naturally… or sometimes, they don’t need to come at all.

Along the way, they’re:

✨ Finding calm in movement
✨ Opening up at their own pace
✨ Feeling connected without pressure

It’s never just about the steps.

It’s about creating space — for thoughts, for conversations, for simply feeling a little lighter.

🎬 Fridays are for filmmaking… and teamwork.

Our Friday filmmaking project is in full flow, with each young person stepping into their own role to bring a shared vision to life.

From camera work to directing, editing to planning — everyone has a part to play.

And with that comes something important:

✨ Responsibility
✨ Collaboration
✨ Problem-solving
✨ Trust in each other

Together, they’re working towards completing their film for competition submission — learning not just the technical skills, but how to work as a team in a calm, supportive environment.

No pressure to compete with each other — just a shared goal, and the quiet pride of building something together.

Because when young people feel safe to contribute… they often surprise themselves with what they can achieve.
