Can we dig it?! Yes we can! 🪏⛰️

North Argyll Trail Association held one of our busiest dig days yet on Sunday. Thanks to our 19 volunteers who came and worked so hard on Ben Lora’s Mid-hill trails 💪

Some 60 hours of volunteer effort has these trails in great shape for heading into the longer days of spring ☀️🚲

Thanks as always to Forestry and Land Scotland for working with us, and allowing access for maintaining the trails on this much loved hill ❤️

Thanks to those who came to our Ben Lora dig today! Together, we put in some serious elbow grease on a new link up section into the ever-popular Tinkerbell trail.

Mikey got the first test ride in and told us it’s sweeeet 👌

See you out on the trails! And remember, if you see a section of local trail that needs some work or management - don’t forget to drop us a line. We can always schedule a dig and tackle it together!

DIG DAY UPDATE

Due to a clash with North Argyll Cycle Club MTB coaching session this Sunday, we’re now going to move our dig day to the Saturday to allow folks to get out and ride on Sunday with Mikey Clifford!

Depending on weather conditions, we’re going to be working on Lockdown and/or a new section of trail that Sam’s been working on lately… we can’t wait!

Many hands make light work! Come down and lend a couple. If you have any hand tools, please bring those along. And if you can’t make it for the whole dig, please stop by with as much time as you can spare. U16s must be accompanied by an adult.

We hope you’ve been getting out and enjoying time on bikes in the sun this past week or so! Glencruitten is looking a bit drier than usual, so best make the most of it. Whilst you’re at it, check out Last Trees Standing to see what we’ve been working on over the last few months.

Some more snaps from our last dig in Glencruitten back in January. The trails held up really well for ’s race on Saturday, so we’re looking forward to being back there this weekend to keep making improvements and ensuring these trails stay good for many more rides to come!

SUNDAY 30TH MARCH - GLENCRUITTEN

This weekend, are back at Glencruitten for another round of their winter league races. We hope the riders enjoy some of the work we put in back in January!

And so for our dig this month, we’ll be at Glencruitten, as official clean-up squad of NACC’s races in the woods 🫡

We were so grateful to receive a donation from this fund last year! It’s amazing what we can achieve for our trails when we work together and are so glad to see so many TAs putting in so much effort across Scotland 🫶

Last Trees Standing received a major upgrade today! Thanks to the 10+ folks that came out today and helped us make a start on improving the pure rutty bog that was this trail. And to Shane for providing some great boardwalk and planning another great dig.

We’ll be at Glencruitten for our first dig of 2025!

Well done to the riders who raced in the forest at North Argyll Cycle Club's first event of the year on Sunday. There was a great turnout and it was really encouraging to hear the good comments on the course and all the work that’s gone into it over the past year. Amazing job team! And big thanks to Shane for being king of GC trail maintenance.

After some good riding of the trails, there is some maintenance to be done to keep on top of the progress we’ve made. Many hands make light work - come down on Sunday 26th January to lend a couple!

Amazing turn out to our last dig day of the year on Ben Lora. 16 people out on the trails, and between us we resurrected an old favourite: Harvester 1!

Despite the freezing conditions last night, we had a great time on our social night ride for the Oban Winter Festival! A clear night was great for visibility, especially with the moon shining so bright. Some of the riders who joined us hadn't ridden at Ganavan before, so it was great to show them the work we've done and hear about their opinions of riding in Oban. It's clear that these trails are much appreciated - a firm favourite was 'Fat Feet', which includes swooping turns through a bracken field.
