🚨 We Need You! 🚨

Our AGM saw all committee members step down, and we urgently need volunteers to keep our community play park thriving!

Our AGM is coming up! Join us to help shape the future of our playpark for children, families, and the whole community

After five years, our current committee members are ready to hand over the reins and let some fresh faces take the Play Park forward. We’re looking for enthusiastic community members who would love to be part of shaping the future of this much-loved space.
We’re on the lookout for a new Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer as well as general committee members. Don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before – no experience is needed! Our existing committee will stay on for a transition period to guide and support anyone who steps forward, making sure you feel confident in your new role.
If we are unsuccessful with filling these posts the charity will be dissolved, the current Minute of Agreement with Argyll & Bute Council will cease to exist and they will be solely responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the park going forward.
The following options will then be available:
Spend existing funds on the park. The park will continue to exist in its current state with Argyll & Bute Council responsible for maintenance. No further development or fund-raising will take place from Friends of Oban Community Playpark.
Donate existing funds to a local charity with similar purposes ie recreational community benefit.
This is a fantastic chance to get involved, meet new people, and help keep the play park a vibrant place for local families to enjoy.
If you’d like to find out more or put your name forward, please come along to the Friends of Oban Community Playpark AGM on Monday 3rd November 2025 at Atlantis Leisure at 7pm. There will be an option to join online for those who are unable to come along in person.

Work is well on the way, no news on completion date yet, but new wooden beams should increase the life of the main tower by quite a few years 👍

Take-Two: Having spoken to the council regarding work on the main tower, we have been informed that the work will now start tomorrow Monday 17th March. Cones are in place again to allow for the heavy lifting equipment to access the park. Fingers crossed for a quick turnaround and the tower being back in action very soon. 🤞 Once again, thanks to everyone for their patience 👍

We have received information from the council that they will be replacing the wooden beams on the main tower at the park. Work is due to begin this Monday 10th March. Yellow cones have been placed in the lay-by as heavy lifting equipment is required. Please do not park in this lay-by as this will delay the work being completed. We trust that this work will be completed asap so the park will be fully functional again as soon as possible.
