Contact Centre
When parents separate ongoing parenting of their children becomes extremely challenging. Often children lose contact with their non-resident parents or other family members because the conflict between the parents leads to lack of trust or one parent is afraid of the other, perhaps due to history of domestic abuse or substance misuse. The parent with residence is often reluctant to

agree to contact by the other parent or, if there is to be contact that it has to be supported or supervised. Such is the depth of the breakdown in many relationships that it is often difficult, if not impossible, to find an acceptable family member to assist in this role. The parent with residence and who holds fears about contact, benefits from the reassurance of the presence in the background of the centre workers. The parent exercising contact benefits in the knowledge that there will be an opportunity to do so without the background of animosity existing between the parents. The child(ren) benefit from having contact out-with an atmosphere of parental conflict.
