Argyll And Bute Care And Repair are an independent registered Scottish charity, funded via the Helath and Social Care Partnership to provide practical assistance, technical services and information & advice to the elderly and/or disabled to enable them to remain in their own homes in comfort and safety for as long as they wish or is practically possible. Our people and services cover the whole of

Argyll and Bute mainland and the islands. If you, or someone who lives with you, are over 60 or disabled or living with a debilitating long term health condition and you are home owner or private sector tenant resident in Argyll & Bute we provide free confidential advice and assistance on disabled grants for major adaptations such as showers, wetrooms, ramps and access solutions, stairlifts and hoists. We can also assist with home safety and security through installation of items such as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, security chains, Locks, key safes, light bulbs, thresholds. We can also carry out small repairs in your home such as minor plumbing, joinery and electrical work including flat pack assembly, er****on of shelves, changing tap washers & plug fuses, installing curtain rails. Our Housing Support Officers also Install grab rails, banisters and telecare equipment on referral from NHS Occupational Therapists and Council Telecare workers.

Our long serving Oban Office Administrator is retiring and we are seeking to hire a replacement as soon as possible. This is a busy role, based in a small office supporting the Manager, Trustees and officers based throughout Argyll and Bute. The Administrator also oversees our admin assistants daily tasks. Responsibilities include ensuring all office admin and finance cash flow process and procedures are followed, front line communication including dealing with client and customer calls, providing admin support for the manager, production of payroll and pension information for external payroll provider, production of quarterly statistics from our database, attending Board meetings and producing minutes for distribution.
You must have excellent IT skills - Word, Excel, Outlook - and experience in the use of Databases for producing reports and data. Sound experience of cash flow, sales and purchase reconciliation, etc. You must have excellent communication skills to deal with a range of clients, public, sales and contractor calls and requests.
35hr week, Mon to Fri 9.00am to 5.00pm, 28days annual leave and 12 public days, 4,7% contributory pension, employee assistance programm. Salary in the range of £28,000 to £31,000.

Housing Support Officer (HSO)
Oban, Lorn and Isles

Immediate start available

Home based

full time, permanent position – 35hrs
Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00

Applicants will need to demonstrate competent joinery skills and also have good all round small repairs and general house maintenance experience including minor plumbing and electrical work. Based from home, you will support our Health And Social Care referral partners to install a range of equipment in our elderly, disabled and vulnerable clients’ homes, including telecare devices, grab rails and bannisters, door locks, keysafes, thresholds, etc. Training will be provided.
You will require a current clean UK Driving Licence (work vehicle provided) and be familiar with basic computer use including using email. Time served in a relevant trades discipline is preferred (preferably joinery) but not essential depending on the extent, relevance and nature of previous experience. References and a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check will be taken up for the successful applicant prior to starting.

Salary Range – £27,000 to £30,000

4.7% Contributory pension

28 days personal leave and 12 public holidays per annum.

Care And Repair Officer
We are looking for a suitably qualified Care And Repair Officer to join our small and friendly team to assist our elderly and disabled clients with the disabled grant process for major adaptations, whether it be for wet floor or level access shower projects, external ramp installs, wheelchair access works, stairlift installations, etc.
This a permanent full time position, based from home, 35hrs a week Monday to Friday, £30k to £36K per annum, contributory pension scheme, essential car users allowance and 28 days personal leave and 12 public holidays per annum.
Reporting to the Care And Repair Manager, you will mainly cover the Helensburgh and Lomond area, but also some projects in other locations as required. Good technical drawing skills are necessary and you must have qualifications and experience in building construction or trade related disciplines and environments with a solid understanding of planning and building control requirements.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and will be I.T literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. You will also possess excellent time management skills to be able to prioritise multiple grant funded projects. You must have a current clean driving licence and use of your own vehicle. You must be eligible to work in the UK.
