The Veterans Contact Point is a registered Charity established on 27/2/14 No:1155953. Established to help members of the UK Armed Forces Community and their families, those still serving and those who have left the Armed Forces (Veterans). Based in Nuneaton Warwickshire and open 5 days per week. Offering direct support via Peer to Peer Support and referrals to all Military Charities for welfare su
pport. The Royal British Legion and SSAFA are currently supporting referrals from the VCP's Armed Forces Centre. Veterans UK also provide a monthly surgery to help claim military compensation or queries with Armed Forces pensions. We also work with many other authorities and organisations which include CWPT NhS P’Ship Trust TILS/HIS Veterans Mental Health Teams. The VCP’s Armed Forces Centre was opened in November 2013 aiming to help the Armed Forces Community re-integrate more fully with its local community. It benefited from a rebuild in 2029/19 provided by Balfour Beatty giving back to the Armed Forces , reopened by General The Lord Dannatt in 2019 and hosted a Royal visit by HRH Prince Charles in 2020. The Centre supports veterans from all 3 services, including Commonwealth & Gurkha Veterans. Our partnership provided IAG to assist Veterans/Serving Service personnel find jobs and training opportunities, this service compliments the work we do at the VCP's Armed Forces Centre. We have developed veteran lead Peer Support Work (PSW) and welcome volunteers to be PSW or just give back time or support ,
Tailoring of interventions to work with other community organisations has also lead to specialist advice/support with Substance Misuse, Criminal Justice, Befriending and Mental/Emotional interventions, Supporting veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Using learnt experience and expertise to compliment the work we do to support veterans snd partners from our local CSW AFC Partnership. We also provide Brew & Banter mornings on Tuesdays (Dordon) Wednesdays (Nuneaton) & Thursday (Atherstone) 10:00-14:00 coffee and tea provided, bring your own sandbag and flack jacket and RAF Regiment more than welcome. Since 2014 we have supported increasing numbers our Armed Forces and their families. We strive to be there, a presence for them and the people who provide interventions and support. We will continue to increase the use of the our Centres and strive to provide interventions and partnerships in support of Veterans and Families
