Earlier this month, the chaplaincy at George Eliot Hospital received a donation from the League of Friends, which will enhance the privacy of staff using the space.
The donation included brand-new screens, which were much needed as the previous ones had become quite worn over time. These screens play a vital role in creating a peaceful and private sanctuary where both staff members and patients can come to pray and reflect.
Lead Chaplain, Rev Janelle Kingham, speaks on the donations:
“The multi-faith chapel provides space for all, irrespective of belief tradition, to come and connect with a higher being or simply within themselves.
One important aspect of this space is its ability to provide culturally and religiously appropriate prayer spaces for faith groups that might require it. Our old screens were beyond repair, and thanks to the generosity of the League of Friends, we have 4 new screens that enable us to provide better areas within our communal space for staff to pray in.
Mike Parsons, Chairman of The League of Friends, added: “We are delighted to be able to support the work of the fantastic teams here at the hospital and to improve the experience of the patients.
“It is our mission to continue the work of the charity formed in 1955. Thanks to all our volunteers who support the League of Friends and make such donations possible.”
