We are hoping to find some additional volunteers to join our food bank team!
The food bank sessions, on Thursday mornings, are where service users can call in person to have food parcels made up. The food bank team also assist potential new service users to complete registration forms, and the sessions are the most public-facing among our regular activities. Although the food bank sessions take place every week, we are only looking for a commitment of one or two sessions per month, and new volunteers would initially be be placed with experienced colleagues. A DBS (criminal records) check is required for all food bank team members - these checks can be arranged by Broxtowe Community Projects at no cost to volunteers.
For potential volunteers with their own transport, we are also looking for some more drivers to deliver food parcels in the NG9 postcode area on Wednesday afternoons. Typically, three or four parcels are taken by each driver. There is also the occasional need for drivers who can cover the NG16 area at Friday lunchtimes. Again, a DBS check is required.
