A log burner keeps 70 to 85% of its heat in your room. That's £7 to £8.50 of warmth from every £10 of logs, and a third of the wood for the same cosy evening.

So we want to know what actually tips people over the edge. Is it:

1️⃣ The bills. Logs can cost as little as 3.3p per kWh in a modern Ecodesign stove, against around 26p for electric heating.

2️⃣ The heat. A stove sends 80% of its heat into the room. An open fire manages about 20%.

3️⃣ The look. A real flame turns any living room into the best seat in the house.

4️⃣ The value. Industry estimates put the boost to a home's value at up to 5%.
