Himmah is a grassroots community based social justice initiative for poverty, race and education equalities. We achieve this by providing direct services, like our food bank, community meals, clothes, furniture, hate crime awareness and reporting, discrimination casework and English and supplementary classes. We strive to break dependency and empower people to create dignity, justice and change th
orough community organising, research and campaigning. Our work is driven by an ethos of compassion, service and justice as transformative forces for positive social change that is needed in modern day Britain. We aspire to create change by building more cohesive, educated and prosperous communities. The story of Himmah starts with the story of Ahmed. In 2010, a man named Ahmed was finding food from bins and sleeping on pieces of cardboard in the street. This sparked a call to action which saw a community come together to help a man who had been abandoned by the society he lived in, Himmah was found in this action. Since then Himmah has gone on to help countless individuals whose stories are similar. We have a proud history of providing support to individuals and families in need, refugees and communities being discriminated. Himmah ensures that donations are dealt with in the most transparent way possible so supporters are assured of the change they have helped make.
