Nottingham Women's Centre

Nottingham Women's Centre A safe, supportive & feminist organisation run by women, for all women. Home to Our services are available to all women, without exclusion.

Nottingham Women’s Centre is a feminist organisation run by women, for ALL women. We help women build self confidence and independence by enabling them to address and resolve issues in their lives. We provide financial advice and mental health support, we campaign for change on matters affecting women and we run a regular programme of training courses and learning from within the Centre, making us

a ‘one-stop shop’ for women in Nottingham. Nottingham Women’s Centre is also host to two local women’s organisations: – Juno Women's Aid and Nottinghamshire Sexual Violence Support Services. We work closely with other women’s organisations and listen to the needs of local women when shaping our services. Support us! If you would like to help a women in need you can donate to our crisis fund by clicking the 'donate' button on our page. You can also make a donation with Gift Aid via our Local Giving page: https://localgiving.org/charity/nottinghamwomenscentre/

A huge thank you to the amazing volunteers from a local church group who spent their Saturday transforming the space behind the centre.

They cleaned overgrown weeds, moss and even got rid of some fencing that was no longer loved.

💜 Purple looks good with yellow 💛

Last month, the Thriving Nottingham team visited the Nottingham Women's Centre for their lovely Coffee & Chat drop-in session as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

We were proud to provide our free Health MOTs and have friendly conversations about physical and mental wellbeing in such a welcoming space.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to chat with us, and to the team at the Women’s Centre for having us. We’re delighted to support the centre on a regular basis and will be back again next week as part of Refugee Awareness Week - come and say hello!

Our online writer in residence Lisette Charlotte is telling your stories about the Nottingham Women's Centre.

Here's our first story from Diane, who shared Teaching to Transgress by Bell Hooks as a book that changed her perspective while training to become a teacher:

"This book is about the practice of freedom and discusses ideas that underpin what I believe education and transference of information should be: dialogical, rather than hierarchical and dictatorial; person centred and actually teaching people how to think rather than what to think. I came out of education and naturally gravitated towards working here at NWC, and even though this is not an educational institution, it upholds a lot of these ideas in terms of how we work with women."

To get to her favourite space in NWC (Room 18) you need to pass all levels and the beautiful library which "feels like a journey through time and space".

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Diane!

As the approaches, it's important to remember that reports rise during major men's football tournaments - whether England win or lose.

With your help we can ensure survivors find the professional support they need.

Connection, campaigning, learning and plenty of laughter along the way. 💜

Over the past year, Nottingham WASPI has brought women together to campaign for justice, hear from expert speakers, discuss issues that matter, and build new friendships.

As they celebrate their first year since relaunching at Nottingham Women's Centre, we're looking back at everything they've achieved together.
