PROF MARIA BUSZEK

TITLE: PUNK, FEMINISM & FRIENDSHIP: AN INTERVIEW WITH ALEX MICHON & GINA BIRCH
BIO Maria Elena Buszek: is a scholar, curator, critic, and Professor of Art History at the University of Colorado Denver. Her books include Pin-Up Grrrls: Feminism, Sexuality, Popular Culture, Extra/ordinary: Craft and contemporary art and, with Hilary Robinson, the 2019 anthology of new writing, A Companion to Feminist Art. Dr. Buszek's current book project, 'Punk Feminisms: No Style but Strength' explores the intertwined feminist art, music, and politics of the punk and post-punk scenes.
BIO Alex Michon: is a British artist and writer, based in London, who runs the Transition Gallery in Hackney with Cathy Lomax. Michon is also known for having worked with The Clash in 1977–83, when she designed several ranges of clothing for the band. Some of her shirts were included in Mick Jones' The Rock & Roll Public Library at Chelsea Space in London
BIO Gina Birch: is a 'legendary artist, songwriter, filmmaker and feminist icon.
'Known for a wildly diverse artistic career that includes co-founding the iconic British post-punk band, The Raincoats, Gina Birch had an undeniable and outspoken hand in shaping the UK's independent music scene.'
