Shout out to our friends at The Pillar Box , Sherwood who kindly hosted our Community Café group who had headed out to enjoy all the sights of Sherwood Art Week and provided complimentary refreshments to everyone.

💙 VOLUNTEERS WEEK 2026 💙

This week we're taking a moment to thank our extraordinary team of over 40 volunteers.
Our volunteers share far more than their time. They bring compassion, creativity, kindness and genuine human connection to adults across Nottingham City. Through sharing their unique skills they help people feel less isolated, more confident and more connected to their communities.
Volunteers are an essential part of our service and their impact is felt in so many ways. They are a friendly face and a listening ear to the people we support, help our groups and events run smoothly, create content and materials for our website, assist with interviews and training, and raise vital funds that enable us to continue our work.
Each day, both the people we support and our staff team benefit from the kindness, skills and generosity of our volunteers. Their compassion and commitment help create connection, build confidence and make a lasting difference across our community.
What unites every volunteer is the compassion, creativity and kindness they bring. Their generosity creates opportunities for true connection, belonging and renewed confidence.

Improving Lives Notts is part of the Local Community Fund.
We are so thankful to the more than 650 members who are already supporting us. The funds we will receive from the Co Op will allow to continue and evolve our service to meet the needs of the Nottingham community.

A huge thank you to the team at VF Corporation Northern Europe who raised £150 during Mental Health Awareness Week to support the work of Improving Lives Notts

A huge congratulations to our volunteer befriender Kiran who recently received the Jamie Marshall Award. This award is given by NTU CenSCE (Student and Community Engagement) in recognition of the outstanding contribution that student volunteers provide within the local community.

Our Volunteer Coordinator and the person that Kiran has been befriending were both in attendance to celebrate Kiran's success.

We’re proud to support the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Su***de Prevention campaign to help Break the Silence on Su***de.

An average of 2.8 people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire take their lives each week therefore more needs to be done to raise awareness of support locally.

Difficult situations can feel daunting, but support is available to help you navigate through the tough days. Connecting with others is a vital step in finding the right resources to help you cope.

You don’t have to face this by yourself, reach out today and let’s break the silence.

This week we have been marking Mental Health Awareness Week. On Monday we had a great social afternoon with lots of cake and bingo hosted by Edwin. It was lovely to see lots of familiar faces but plenty of new ones too!
