The Friends of George Spencer

The Friends of George Spencer FrOGS (Friends of George Spencer) organise community events to raise funds to support projects that benefit students attending George Spencer Academy.

The FrOGS (Friends of George Spencer) was founded in 2007. Originally, it was quite a small group with BIG AMBITIONS. In our first year we ran Christmas Fayre, Quiz and Jack the Ripper Night and gave the school just under £2500 for Sports Kit and the Library. Since then:
We have run a number of events including:
• Christmas Fayre
• Fireworks Extravaganza (jointly with the fire-fighters from Staple

ford)
• Back to School (for the schools 50th Anniversary)
• Pamper Night
• Quiz Night
• Wine Tasting
• Strictly George Spencer
• EasyFundRaising Site: easyfundraising.org.uk

We have donated over £31,100 for projects large and small. These include:
• Replacing the curtains in the hall
• Help with refurbishing library
• 6th Form Common Room
• Sports Kit
• Hall Lighting
• Animation Club
• Table Tennis Equipment
• Stage Blocks
• Technology Equipment
• A Court Yard Garden
• Benches
• And many, many more

This would not have been possible without the support of all the staff, parents and local businesses. For which we give a big THANK YOU. Currently, we have 12 active members plus Mr Richard Turner, the school representative, and ably supported by the school caretakers. If you have new ideas for events, or if you are interested in joining FrOGS, we love to hear from you! The FrOGS Committee
