Although they wouldn’t necessarily call it that, there are millions of people doing the work of peace in their everyday lives and in their communities. Millions doing the work of caring, teaching, healing, feeding, communicating, sharing and building a world in which we can thrive. The millions are all made up of single individuals, and somewhere along the line, all of us depend on each other. We
are creating a shared celebration of everything we do to build a good world. The initiative grew in response to the Gandhi, King, Ikeda (Peacebuilders) Exhibition, which is coming to Nottingham from 3-12 May, 2017. These three leaders demonstrate the power to bring about social transformation through peaceful means. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD (MAHATMA GANDHI)
DARKNESS CANNOT DRIVE OUT DARKNESS: ONLY LIGHT CAN DO THAT (MARTIN LUTHER KING JNR)
A GREAT REVOLUTION OF CHARACTER IN JUST A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL WILL HELP ACHIEVE A CHANGE IN THE DESTINY OF A NATION (DAISAKU IKEDA)
NOTTINGHAM PEACEBUILDERS 2017 is a programme of activities and events from 22 April to 21 May 2017, and details will be available in print and online closer to the time; from closed, intimate events to sharing food, candlelight procession, theatre, music and dancing. Nottingham Peacebuilders is an initiative of private individuals, but our partners include Nottingham City Council Arts, Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation, Arts Council England, Nottingham Universities and schools, professional and community artists and organisations.
