Before/half way/complete. A repair to the wall at Hickling Basin was completed today by GCS volunteers. The wall is now in a much better condition and likely to retain more water as levels recover over the winter 🙏.

Last night we held the 48th Annual General Meeting of Grantham Canal Society. It was an opportunity for supporters to meet, review challenges and successes, and look ahead to plans for the next year (including restoration of lock 13).
We would like to thank The Duck at Woolsthorpe for providing the excellent “Duck Hall” as the venue, and also Gary Jowett Butchers of Cropwell Bishop, Mill Farm C***r, and Sid’s Greengrocer of Bottesford for donating raffle prizes.

Today our construction volunteers were out completing the first stage of a repair at Hickling Basin.

What’s in the skip? Lots of clay…. On Friday a volunteer team returned to a troublesome culvert near Vimy Ridge and filled a gap in the bank with a large amount of clay. This will be tested over coming months as water returns to this stretch; we hope it is sealed sufficiently to prevent leakage 🙏.

At Flintham Show, it's a beautiful day and we've been busy, although you couldn't prove it by the photo, everyone having a few seconds break. Come along and say hello - if you can reach us! Opposite the vintage machinery stand.
