An-Nisa Network’s first mini retreat πŸ’š

We spent a relaxing morning in beautiful surroundings, enjoying outdoor yoga in the sunshine, a soothing soak in the hot tub, and a restorative sound bath.

Feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, we then headed to the lodge for a delicious lunch followed by a lovely walk together.

Taking time to look after yourself is so important – when you care for your own wellbeing, you're better able to care for others.

A wonderful day filled with connection, relaxation, and self-care. Hopefully this is the first of many more retreats to come! ✨

An Nisa Network are hosting a free community workshop with the IRU.

We'll be talking about things that affect so many Muslims β€” such as being treated differently at work because of our hijab, or not knowing what our legal rights are.

And we're starting the afternoon with a *free* Hijab-setting workshop β€” showing you techniques to wear your hijab so that it stays securely in place, even if someone tries to pull it.

After that, you'll learn:

βœ… How to recognise Islamophobia in everyday life
βœ… How to report hate crime β€” without having to go to a police station
βœ… Your legal rights at work and in education
βœ… Where to get free advice and support

πŸ—“ Sunday 28th June πŸ•š 11:00am – 2:00pm πŸ“ Himmah Hub, 37A Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham NG7 6BE

It's completely *free*. *Brothers are also welcome and strongly encouraged to attend.*

Please share widely.

Brunch will be available.

We recently attended the Islamophobia Response Unit event in Birmingham on 17th May, a powerful and important discussion on the rise of Islamophobia and how it impacts Muslims across workplaces, education, and everyday life.

As visibly Muslim women, many in our community understand the subtle but harmful ways discrimination can present itself whether that is not feeling heard or valued in professional spaces, having to work harder to be taken seriously, or facing additional barriers when advocating for our children within education systems that can already feel unequal.

These experiences are real, and conversations like these are needed now more than ever.

The event reinforced the importance of empowering our communities through awareness, understanding our legal rights, and knowing how to access support and advocacy.

We are also pleased to be working with the Islamophobia Response Unit to bring a community workshop to Nottingham soon insha’Allah, focused on recognising Islamophobia, reporting hate crime, and understanding rights within employment and education.

Together, through knowledge and solidarity, we can continue building stronger and more empowered communities 🀍

Alongside our wider community work, we support mothers of neurodiverse children and help amplify the lived experiences of families navigating SEND systems, educational inequality and exclusion.

Today, submitted a response to the Department for Education SEND Reform Consultation, highlighting the experiences shared by families within our community.

Our response called for:

πŸ’œ Greater accountability within schools and SEND systems
πŸ’œ Improved understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive practice
πŸ’œ Stronger recognition of intersectional disadvantage β€” where SEND, ethnicity, faith, socio-economic disadvantage and mental health challenges can overlap and compound barriers for children and families
πŸ’œ Better support for families experiencing exclusion, isolation and educational disengagement
πŸ’œ More culturally competent and meaningful engagement with underrepresented communities

We believe inclusion must move beyond policy language and become a lived reality for children and families.

Our aim continues to be creating safe, inclusive and culturally competent spaces where communities feel heard, supported and empowered.

πŸ’œ Community Support
πŸ’œ SEND & Neurodiversity Advocacy
πŸ’œ Women’s Empowerment
πŸ’œ Inclusion & Equality
πŸ’œ Amplifying Underrepresented Voices
