Today strike at The Orchard School sends a clear message.

🏺❤️ £120m boost for Ceramics

Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire have always been the home of British ceramics. It’s our history, our identity, and still a huge part of local life today.

Alongside David Williams MP, Gareth Snell MP, Adam Jogee for Newcastle-under-Lyme and Linsey Farnsworth MP, GMB Union & Trades Union Congress (TUC) I’ve been pushing for real backing for the sector, and today that work has paid off.

Today, the Government has announced a £120 million package for ceramics: supporting firms now, backing jobs, and helping manufacturers invest for the future.

It also connects to the Industrial Energy Innovation Fund I’ve been campaigning for: helping energy-intensive industries (like ceramics) reduce costs, improve efficiency and adopt new technologies.

That includes advanced ceramics too, which are already playing a growing role in technology, construction, aerospace and defence - and where North Staffordshire can lead.

Today’s announcement shows the Government has listened. This is a turning point for ceramics in North Staffordshire: securing jobs, backing innovation, and keeping our Potteries at the forefront of the UK’s industrial future.
